Here are the news and events happening around Arizona sports.
The Arizona Cardinals will host the fifth annual Girls Flag Football Fundamentals Youth Camp on April 19 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Cardinals Flag Football Campus at State Farm Stadium.
The free camp provides girls ages 6-12 with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of football. Cardinals players, including tight ends Trey McBride and Tip Reiman, offensive linemen Paris Johnson Jr. and Jon Gaines, linebackers Zaven Collins, BJ Ojulari and Owen Pappoe, running backs DeeJay Dallas and Emari Demercado and defensive lineman Dante Stills, are scheduled to attend the camp.
Campers will also be able to work with the Cardinals girls high school flag football players of the year: Samaya Taylor-Jenkins from Chandler Hamilton and Breana Saunders from Goodyear Millennium. Taylor-Jenkins is nominated for The Arizona Republic’s offensive player of the year, while Saunders is up for defensive player of the year.
Participants will take part in flag football drills and interactive games. They will also receive a camp t-shirt and lunch after the event.

The new head coach, Becky Burke, landed her second transfer commitment on April 9.
Cleveland State guard Mickayla Perdue, the 2024-25 Horizon League Player of the Year, announced via social media that she’s headed to Tucson.
Perdue, a 5-foot-6 guard, spent the past two seasons at Cleveland State. The senior averaged a career-high 20 points per game last season, plus 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals. She shot 34.9% from 3-point range and 81.8% from the foul line.
