IMO, the words are hollow.

Babby says all the right things but then he traded a first round pick with Dragic for Brooks. So how did that work out?

Babby said earlier in the season he wanted Nash to retire a Sun. Where did that go?

The Suns FO will have to earn credibility with me. Cultural changes in the locker room and making the players happy are nice but still it comes down to talent even if the Suns team is more than the sum total of their parts as he says.

He seems to talk out of both sides of his mouth. On the one hand he doesnt necessarily want to spend in the FA period this year and hand out bad deals, the Suns can just stand pat. On the other hand, he doesnt believe in getting bad to get good.

Well what does he thinks going to happen if the Suns roll out a Marshall-Dudley-Morris-Frye-Gortat lineup? Thats a heck of a good recipe for ping pong balls by any estimation.

His statement was in referance to last year. When you have Nash/Hill on your team you don't "tank" the season. With a group of rookies you have no option but to be bad. With Nash and Hill most likely gone you don't feel you owe it to them to try and make the playoffs.

I still think they will add some pieces to the team, but I think the expectations of the team is not to make the playoffs, unless we are able to sign some good talent (Without over paying).

I am hoping that is the lineup in 2012. Sign some young guys like Hickson, Rush, Hawes to fill out the bench and hopefully cash in on the #1 pick next year.

Thats not the impression I got at all. He says he's totally opposed to tanking, and made it sound more like it was a philosophical decision and something he doesn't ever want to do. I hope you're right though.

Agreed 100%

This is the impression I got as well with or without Nash. I am opposed to to the idea of tanking. Of course if Nash leaves, the Suns are going to have trouble competing anyway.

Compete for what? The Suns haven't competed for anything important WITH Nash for the past two seasons. To hell with competing for the 8th spot. Tank the damn season or two- you get good picks, and you let your youngsters develop and get some experience.

I'm hoping when he talked about tanking he meant from a players/coaches perspective. Have the team win as much as possible with what they have but stay patient with the cap space/draft picks until you're in position to acquire the assets needed to contend.

The only way for this team to acquire assets in the next couple years is to lose a ton of games. Thats what happens after a couple seasons when you manage your roster in a manner that aims at winning 40 games and being competitive enough to just "get in."

I agree that tanking as an organization from the top down is unethical, but common sense and foresight for the long-term must be a part of the thinking too. That would require you to "know when to hold 'em,and know when to fold 'em" dont you think? :)

The Suns held onto a two-pair/King high for too long.

That might be the worst defensive team of all time.

I'll bet you they are better than the Shaq-Nash-Stoudamire combination. That had to be the worst pick and roll defense ever assembled. Seriously you could not do worse if you tried. Of course that was an amazing offense.
