We have a lot of needs. I just hope we don't trade Warren in an effort to fill one of those needs. I'd rather see us build around him than chase a playoff spot.

Suns are such a strange team. I have never seen a team that hasn't made playoffs in 4 years refuse to develop their own talent.

TJ Warren is ready to play. Give him minutes coach! This isn't the Cavs, we aren't competing for a title, we can afford to take some losses while our rookies develop.

Warren would help a lot in filling our need for more variety in our half court offense. From what I've read and seen he can score from anyplace on the floor and do it consistently. I don't imagine he can score as much as Green on the latter's hot nights but we could use the consistency - and he has to be able to defend and rebound at least as well as Green does. I hope they call him up very soon.

Hornacek plans to send player down to the D-League for a couple of games or so and then bring them back up. Warren might help in the half court but it is hard to tell where he is as a player right. The Suns need someone on their frontline who can score inside.

Where do the minutes come from? Marcus Morris & PJ Tucker pretty much have the 3 locked down, Markeiff has the 4 locked down and Tolliver gets the scrap minutes (not sure why). Had we not re-signed Tucker then Warren would be coming off the bench. Currently, there just isn't any room for either of them (Warren or Ennis) on the roster.

Maybe Warren can take Tolliver's minutes.

Ennis' development is probably as important as Warren. If these two guys look like they can produce, the Suns can make a trade that could net them a big.

Tucker, the Morri, Archie, Gerald, and one of the big three pg's all would be very tradeable (though not all together of course).

Here is hoping that the Kevin Love thing in Cleveland goes badly. We could trade the Morris twins and Bledsoe for KLove (and Waiters to make the money work). That trade could actually work for both teams. Oh well. Too early to be considered at all, probably never would be.

I think CLE would deal Irving before Love as Irving is the real problem. PHX needs a starting PF that can rebound. Markeiff is great offensively and would be great coming off the bench with his brother but they are averaging around 6 rpg. It sad that Morris at 6'9 - 6'10 averages 1 more rpg than your starting PG listed at 6'1. Maybe a deal for Monroe can be worked out as he is a UFA next year and DET may want to get something while they can for him now.

Move marcus to PF and start Tucker.

Bledsoe/Thomas/Ennis
Dragic/Green/Goodwin
Tucker/Warren
Markieff/Marcus/Tolliver
Plumlee/Len/Randolph

Marcus can play SF too and Green as well when he is hot. Get Tolliver out of the rotation because Marcus is shooting better anyway.

Warren is clearly on a tune-up right now in Bakersfield. If he continues that kind of production, he will turn heads around the league, not just with the Suns. Maybe we start Tucker and Warren and bring the Morris twins off the bench. Just brainstorming.

Suns recalled both of them this morning. Wonder if we're going to see them get some time.

Does anybody know the rules about sending guys to the D-League? I thought there was a rule limiting the number of NBDL games players can play while on an active NBA roster.

From what I could find, NBA players in their first 2 seasons can be assigned to the D League as often and for as long as the team chooses. After 3 years, they can only be assigned if the player agrees. The wording I came across was ambiguous about the 3rd season.

According to that, the Suns could send Warren and Ennis down for the entire year? That doesn't sound right and makes it seem like there is no need to waive players when you can just stash them in the d-league for the whole year.

I thought there was a limit to the number of games and/or days a player on an active roster can be assigned to the D-League.

EDIT: I guess you're right, there are no limits.

They still take up a roster spot since they're just assigned to the D-League. I would think that gets changed in the future though as the NBA turns the D-League into more of a AAA type minor league. Once they sign with the team after being drafter they count against the 15 person roster whether they are on assignment or not.

This is probably another reason Warren was brought up. Not sure how long Tucker will be suspended for missing a flight but a lot of posters don't mind it creates a spot for Warren.

I wonder if that's just poor journalism or if he really did miss the flight and was suspended. The early report made it sound like he was going to miss one game for a violation of team rules and that he'd only missed the bus to the airport.

Well if he missed the bus to get to the airport, then he missed the bus and the plane, so there you go.

WHY did he miss the bus? That's a question for the ages.

This is from Coro and is closer to what I originally read:

he missed the team bus to the airport Sunday morning in downtown Los Angeles. Tucker got a ride to the airport in time to board the flight to Boston after missing the 9 a.m. team bus. The team had stayed overnight in Los Angeles after Saturday night's loss to the Clippers

He missed the team bus, thereby holding up the team's charter flight. He presumably was on the team plane when it finally departed. He was at the game.
