For just the second time in program history, Ball State women's basketball is heading to Women's March Madness.

The Mid-American Conference champions were announced as a No. 12 seed in the Spokane 1 Regional on Selection Sunday. Ball State will face 5-seed Ole Miss in the first round.

Ball State (27-7) will take on the Rebels in Waco, Texas, as the first weekend is hosted by top-four seeds from each regional, in this case 4-seed Baylor. Should Ball State advance to the Sweet 16, it will play in Spokane, Washington.

Ball State will make its first Women's NCAA Tournament appearance since 2009, when the Cardinals were also given a 12-seed. That Ball State squad pulled off one of the most memorable upsets in tournament history, knocking off Pat Summitt's 5-seed Tennessee in the first round.

Ball State is led by MAC Player of the Year Ally Becki, who averages 13.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. The four-year starter was also named All-MAC first team and All-MAC defensive team.

Ball State isn't a one-woman show, though. Fellow seniors Alex Richard and Marie Kiefer have both had excellent seasons in the post. Kiefer was also named All-MAC defense for being the conference's top shot blocker, setting a Ball State single-season record with 60 blocks this season. Richard was an All-MAC second team selection and has been on a dominant scoring run through the last week of the regular season and the MAC Tournament.

In his 13th season as the Ball State head coach, Brady Sallee will make his first career NCAA Tournament appearance.
