The Cardinals began selling playoff tickets to people with Arizona billing addresses Monday.

They opened sales to all others Tuesday.

"Fewer than 2,000" remained by this afternoon, according to a news release from the team.

This information can be spun a few ways. We could say "nearly 2,000" tickets remained to make it sound like the Cardinals were having a hard time sellout out a playoff game.

The game against Green Bay will almost certainly sell out in time to avoid a local television blackout. The fact that tickets remained available after nearly two days of sales suggests the Cardinals can expect to see quite a few Packers fans in attendance.

This is not good news.

The prices are pretty brutal for families. Especially right after Christmas. We dug deep to pay for the tickets, but it hurt. They were about double what we usually pay.

I think there is some carry over from last year as well - many people saw how easy it was to just buy playoff tickets, especially for the 1st game that they didn't send in their season ticket deposit before christmas and decided to just cross the bridge when it came up

I know that's what we ended up doing with ours - even with the split cost it would be cheaper for my buddy to just buy a pair for sundays game than to pay his portion of what they were wanting

Its a combination of a lot of things. Phoenix will always be a band wagon town. The economy sucks. It didn't help that we play the exact same team two weeks in a row. I personally know a guy that finally managed to buy tickets and take his son last week only to see the worst game we've ever played in that stadium. I'm sure a lot of people had that experience. It is what it is. I know I will be there. I don't let the rest of it get me. As always the other team will be well represented. Hopefully it will be a lot of miserable people in some stupid looking green and yellow colors.

I am honestly kind of annoyed I bought the playoff package. Could have upgraded pretty nicely for this game with the same $. I am also annoyed the ticket office tried to get me to buy 3 more packages to upgrade parking, when in the end I was able to just go down there yesterday and pick up not one, but 2 upgraded passes because I bought 2 more single game tickets when they went on sale.

Only Club level seats are left. I know I wouldn't want to spend $280 a ticket for a wid card game. Not sure many people would.

You know how much I love the Cards and how much I spend every year to fly to the games but it was too much for me. $930!!! Especially when I have to pay to take my family to Vegas this week for my nieces wedding.

And of course every time I get a little money ahead my car finds out about it.

Last year was special, first home playoff game ever and an NFC Championship home game. No way I miss those regardless of the cost.

Not the same this year.

Totally understand. Going to the Superbowl last year pretty much drained my savings acount. I'm not sure if I could do that again this year.

:(Guy's and Girl's, this is the terrible part of sports today. This will be the ruination of sports as we know it. It will become a time when none of us can afford the product on the field (football & baseball - these are my favorite sports). I had Colt tickets for the undefeated team, (Yeah, Right), $125.00 per seat is this sick or not. This will come back to be a nightmare for these NFL & BASEBAL, teams wait and see.:(

So what you're saying is that ticket sales are ahead of where they were last year. Do you remember that we needed two, count 'em TWO, extensions for the Atlanta game? More than 10% finds its way onto StubHub, so people with money don't have to settle for those upper deck corner seats, and that's all there is left. Remember that club level seats don't matter in determination of a sellout.

This time tomorrow, the game will be a sellout.

Very different scenarios. last year the Cards limped into the playoffs almost by default and were being praised as the worst playoff team ever. They were expected to get annihilated. I can understand why many of the average fans were hesitant to throw down $$$$ to see that. This year we're coming off of a SB and we're favored to win.

Another thing is that the Falcons have about 1/20-1/50 of the national following that the Pack does. I figure about 1/5 of the seats will be filled with green and yellow and most of those people have likely already purchased their tickets. Who wouldn't want to leave GB for sunny and beautiful Arizona this time of the year? Sadly, I think it's just the Cards overall weak ass fan base slacking again.

I do think/hope though that the game will sellout without and extension.

Dont forget that Friday is payday for most people here in Az. Most economy experts say this is the first paycheck since Christmas time that most people have a little extra to spend. We will sell this game out, I have no worries.

If there are 65000 seats and 10-12 k of them are packer fans, is that really a problem?

Cards fans would outnumber them 5 to 1 FCOL...

It is unreasonable to think an entire stadium would only be filled with Home team fans especially in transplant citities like the PHX area.

the ticket prices for the game itself weren't what killed me but the frigging airfare was ridiculous. If Minnesota had just beaten Chicago I could have made my reservations then BUT I had to wait until less than a week before the game to buy airfare...cost me almost $600 round trip for one ticket...at least my parents still live in town so I didn't have to pay for a hotel room too.
