Barcelona set to miss out on priority signing as Liverpool prepare huge financial push

Barcelona’s pursuit of Alexander Isak appears to be facing a serious obstacle, as Liverpool are reportedly prepared to make a significant financial commitment to sign the Newcastle striker.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona may struggle to compete with the level of investment their rivals are willing to make.

The Catalan club have long identified Isak as a priority signing. Within Barcelona’s leadership, there is a shared understanding that if the club were to make a substantial financial effort for a new addition, Isak should be the target.

However, their ambitions could be disrupted by fierce competition from other European giants.

PSG and Liverpool are well ahead

Paris Saint-Germain have already formulated a proposal that includes multiple players as part of a swap deal.

The French club are prepared to offer Goncalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani, and Marco Asensio in exchange for Isak, along with a transfer fee.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have also entered the race and have already begun discussions with the striker’s representatives.

Unlike their usual cautious approach to signings, the Premier League side appear willing to break their financial structure to secure the Swedish forward’s services.

Newcastle’s demand

Newcastle, aware of the growing interest in their star player, have reportedly set a price of €180 million. British media sources claim that this is the amount the Magpies would demand from any club looking to sign Isak.

Despite their intention to extend his contract, Newcastle have temporarily halted negotiations after the striker turned down their initial offers. The club is now reassessing its approach while interest from multiple clubs continues to grow.

Given the financial scale of the battle, Barcelona could struggle to remain in contention. The club’s economic limitations mean they are unlikely to compete with Liverpool and PSG, making Isak’s arrival increasingly difficult.

Unless a drastic change occurs, Barcelona may have to abandon their pursuit and look for alternative options in the market.
