Barcelona star leading Kevin De Bruyne as top creator in Europe

A head-turning statistic, highlighting the creative excellence of Barcelona star Lamine Yamal across the season to date, has this weekend come to the fore online.

The info comes courtesy of Squawka, and highlights Lamine’s endeavours in carving out goalscoring opportunities for his teammates.

Barcelona’s wing sensation is of course in the midst of nothing short of a brilliant individual campaign to date.

Continuing to act as one of the first names on the team sheet of boss Hansi Flick, the 17-year-old has directly contributed to 29 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions.

His assist numbers are particularly impressive, with Lamine having notched 17 despite several months of the campaign remaining to be played.

And as alluded to above, along the way, the Spanish international has secured for himself an altogether impressive individual benchmark.

As revealed by Squawka, Lamine averages more open play big chances created per game (0.96) than any other player in Europe’s top-5 leagues this season:
