In what was one of the top games of the women's NCAA Tournament so far, the Alabama Crimson Tide saw their 2025 season come to an end Monday night, falling to the Maryland Terrapins in the second round of March Madness in double overtime, 111-108.
In the loss, Alabama was led by a stellar showing offensively from Sarah Ashlee Barker, who finished with a game-high, as well as program record, 45 points on 17-of-25 shooting from the field. Barker also made multiple key plays down the stretch in this game, which included a three-pointer to give Alabama a three-point lead under a minute remaining in the fourth quarter, as well as three clutch free throws to force double overtime.
Alongside of Barker, Alabama had three other players score in double figures in Essence Cody, Aaliyah Nye, and Zaay Green, each of which also fouled out and were unavailable down the stretch.
With the loss, No. 5 seed Alabama's season now ends with a 24-9 overall record, falling just short of their first Sweet 16 appearance since 1998.
