This is from a blog on the Denver Post website now making the rounds on UCLA boards.

"Word is pickup basketball at UCLA got heated Monday when Golden State star point guard Baron Davis engaged in some trash-talking with heralded Southern Cal freshman point guard O.J. Mayo. Davis got upset with Mayo after he didn’t respect one of Davis’ calls. Word is Davis, a native of Los Angeles, told Mayo that he doesn’t know who he is other than the fact that he wasn’t from Los Angeles and he also needed to respect a veteran’s call. Word is Mayo more than held his own in the games. NBA star LeBron James was in attendance but didn’t play."

A couple of UCLA fans were there and said that Mayo and Davon Jefferson were repeatedly arguing calls (it's a pickup game no refs so they call their own fouls). At one point the entire gym was standing waiting for them to quit arguing a call so that the game could end and the next team could come on to play.

These games are legendary tons of pros on campus playing, Magic Johnson used to run the whole thing but apparently now Baron and Paul Pierce are sort of the de-facto leaders.

Does say mayo held his own which doesn't surprise me, he actually can really play.

FYI I am hearing he's going to pass amateur status checks afterall.
