First off, give credit to Mitch for the title. He came up with BASK, (BA Bruce Arians, SK Steve Keim). I only added the head of scouting, Matt Licht, because I consider him crucial to this new management group. I believe that Steve Keim believes this as well.

When began to first disect the old roster in order to create cap space for new additions, many people spoke out vehemently against them. I elected to hold off until I saw what they were trying to do. As I listened to them explain why they had to do this, and what they wanted to accomplish with it, I began to see that this just might be the answer to so many of our prayers.

They began assembling their coaching staff, again explaining why they made the selections they did, and how they hoped to use them to change our roster. The staff suddenly became very deep, both in numbers and in talent, again with the explanations of the necessity of teaching our current roster new and proper techniques.

When they began adding free agents, (and especially the kinds of FA's they brought in), both Mitch and I began to glow with the belief that we had struck Football Gold. Each player that they selected was done so very purposely. There was no waste involved, either in money, or in time spent in doing so. Contracts were frugal. Players were either brought on board immediately, or sent packing. There was no nonsense involved.

It was about that time that I wrote a thread which gave thanks to Michael Bidwill, and to BASK and Licht for the masterful job they had done with replenishing our losses in free agency. All their additions seemed to be self starters, who were hard workers, and students of the game. There were no me, me, me people in this group. I commented at the end of that piece, that I was VERY anxious to see if Steve Keim would be so agile in maneuvering during the draft, and if the scouts and coaches could come up with real talent.

As of today, one would surely have to reach VERY far to find fault with the draft that BASK and Licht conducted. I could not be happier with their performance. Today, at the end of this draft, they had turned 7 picks into 9 very talented and driven football players. They addressed the biggest needs remaining in our roster, and did so with skill, much perseverance, and even a modicum of heart searching as they played out this draft. The results are spectacular. My hat's off to this group of men, who have done everything they said they would do, and then some thus far.

Now, the only task at hand is to see if they can mold this group of players into a team. I am not a betting man, but if I were, I would be betting that they will have success here for a long, long time, and will leave us old fans of Cardinal's Football, 'BASKING IN THE LICHT' !!!!!

Mini Mitch? :)

I told many to wait until the draft to judge new leadership as I felt they would hit a homerun.

I think its safe to say I was spot on.

I'd like to see some wins before we start passing out medals.

Wins are the only thing left for this group to produce before there are no longer any reasons for the nay-sayers to cling to their obviously tenuous footing. They have already silenced ALL the other complaints that the dark-siders had been clinging to. How about a little review?

COMPLAINT: BA has never done anything of significance in the NFL, and has been constantly passed over for a HC position. RESPONSE: BA wins Coach of the Year and gets the Cardinals HC job.

COMPLAINT: Even if BA could coach some, there is cap space for us to maneuver with. RESPONSE: Cut fan-favorites, Rhodes and Wilson, then cut Kolb and Skelton, and all of the dead weight, over the hill players with the exception of Colledge and Snyder. Suddenly we have money

COMPLAINT: Woe is us, the FO has killed out secondary, and given up any chance we had to win in 2013. RESPONSE: The FO brings in a whole group of Free Agents with frugal short term contracts to start plugging holes in our greatly depleted roster.

COMPLAINT: Dollar Bill is back in action with his dollar contracts. We have completely returned to the old ways. You get nothing (for nothing). RESPONSE: It turns out that all these new guys in free agency are self-starting, gym rats who have a passion for the game of football, and are good character people who will set the example for the new draftees who are to follow. The FO has already upgraded our CB situation on defense.

COMPLAINT: Doesn't matter, we still have a crappy QB situation, and we can't possibly win any more games than last year. RESPONSE: Keim and BA trade for Carson Palmer. QB problem suddenly not so gloomy.

COMPLAINT: Steve Keim is strictly a scout and not a REAL GM. He has never worked contracts, and has a poor record to go on so far as bringing in quality players. RESPONSE: ALL new contracts are signed immediately or the offer is taken off the table. Things are happening with lightning speed compared to the pace at which Graves had performed.

COMPLAINT: Keim doesn't know talent. He was part of the problem under the old administration, and won't help now. RESPONSE: Keim, Licht, and BA kick butt in the draft, rebuilding our OL, making our Safety position scary good, plugging the hole left by D-Wash's off-field error, replenishing our RB corps with RELIABLE players who have a passion for pass protecting their QB, providing a lightning fast WR to take the pressure off Fitzgerald, securing a pass rusher to help ACHO on the edge, and getting a TE who can catch AND block, and best of all, EVERY ONE of these guys is a leader type, who was a captain on his previous team Including the Honey Badger.

COMPLAINT: "I'd like to see some wins before we start passing out medals". [devilalum] RESPONSE: Really,-----alright I will give you that, but just in case that doesn't happen, you should look forfor some new, (and possibly more sound), footing on which to stand, because you are running out of places to stand.

I have also been waiting to pass judgement, and have tried to tell others to do so as well. When this off-season started, my mentality was that BA & SK deserved an opportunity to work their magic and should be judged AFTER we see the results...yet fans complained at every turn and deemed 2013 a failure before it even started. They are not done, there are still players to be added, and to see how these new FA and draft picks are coached up. I love what has been happening.

Me too. I still believe that we will pick up a nasty DT to plug the middle of our D-line. I was all for jumping on Dan Williams when he fell to us back in that draft, but he has no nastiness or mean to him. He is also a fatty, rather than a meaty bodied big guy. I know he has a very low center of gravity, but unless you are nasty enough to put that to work for you, you're just being a fat guy sitting there in the middle of the D, and being moved back and forth where the opponent's O-linemen want to move you. He is too much like the middle of our O-line was before the draft. Soft.
