I know, noone's really going to give a **** about this topic, but I had a question that's going to sound silly.

I was wondering, with the name change from Bank One Ballpark to Chase Field, if the Diamondbacks plan on keeping Baxter as their mascot. Main reason the team picked a bobcat as their mascot was because of the acronym BOB and now that the park no longer uses that name, it was just a question which came to mind.

I want to get my daughter a Baxter stuffed animal for Christmas, but wasn't sure if it was the official mascot still.

From wikipedia: Baxter is the mascot of the Major League Baseball team the Arizona Diamondbacks. The name came from former Diamondback Jay Bell's son, Brently. Brently explained that the D-Backs (D. Baxter) should have a "BOB" cat since the team played in Bank One Ballpark, the BOB, now Chase Field.

--------------------------------

They no longer play in BOB, but "D. Baxter" still makes sense since they're still the D-Backs.

My sister (Linderbee) is very good friends with Baxter's manager (seriously). I'll give her a call today to see what I can find out. Might be a day or two till I get an answer.

To the absolute best of my knowledge, Baxter's job is safe--not going anywhere! I will verify this for you.

I appreciate this Linderbee :)

My daughter loves Baxter. I took her to a D'Backs game this summer, and she keeps asking when we can go back to "see Baxter". I'm converting her yet :)

I double-checked that for you, and yes, Baxter is going nowhere....is name is actually D. Baxter (D-Backs-ter), so I guess they're just going to go with that. (like BIM said) ...you keep working on her---D-backs rule!!!

Awesome. Thank you for going out of your way to help me here. Very much obliged! Also, thanks Harley for setting me up with the answer! You both are the best.

Go DBacks!

I'm continually amazed at the connections that are made on ASFN.

What a cool thread!

God I hope they get rid of that thing, what an awful mascot. Looks like Wilbur and Wilmas demon child.

When you live in a town that has Sparky and the Gorilla, why even try to top that? Those are two of the sweetest mascots going.

I once went on a blind date with a girl that looked like the spawn of Sparky and Gorilla.. Believe me, it wasn't a pretty sight.
