South Korea have dropped Kim Min-jae from their squad from upcoming World Cup 2026 qualifiers because the Bayern Munich defender is suffering from Achilles tendinitis.

Bayern announced on Friday that Kim would be sidelined for the time being due to the problems.

The South Korean FA followed on Saturday by dropping him from the squad for the qualifiers on Thursday against Oman and five days later against Jordan.

"We decided Kim Min-jae would need to take time to receive treatment on his left Achilles tendinitis and rehab during the international break," the Yonhap news agency quoted a KFA statement as saying.

Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said that Kim won't require surgery, and the club will hope to have Kim back for Aptil 8 and 16 Champions League quarter-final tie against Inter Milan.

“We hope he’s not out for too long, but definitely for the next couple of weeks. It’s about managing his workload,” Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said.
