Jerry (Jack Black) is a junkyard worker who attempts to sabotage a power plant he suspects of causing his headaches. But he inadvertently causes his brain to become magnetized, leading to the unintentional destruction of all the movies in his friend's (Mos Def) store. In order to keep the store's one loyal customer, an elderly lady with a tenuous grasp on reality, the pair re-create a long line of films including The Lion King, Rush Hour, Ghostbusters, When We Were Kings, Back to the Future, Driving Miss Daisy, and Robocop , putting themselves and their townspeople into it. They become the biggest stars in their neighborhood.

its written and directed by Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind)...so this does have potential.

Stars Jack Black and Mos Def

i've been waiting for this flick for a couple years when I first heard about it - pissed they pushed it back from September to next year.

This one would be at the top of my list of "have to see" if it weren't for Jack Black on the lead role.

Just rented this and I have to say I was impressed. Very funny stuff. Sort of like Little Miss Sunshine where the comedy wasn't hit you over the head stuff and it kept a heartfelt storyline.

Certainly one of the better rentals I've had in awhile.

Mos Def was great as was Melonie Diaz. Jack Black was toned from his usual self, his best job since School of Rock.

I thought it started off kind of slow, but it ended up to be a pretty good flick.

Recently watched it. While I thought the ending was somewhat charming, I wasn't too impressed with this one. However, I will give it credit for originality.

Made it twenty minutes into it.
If you'd given it thirty, you would have been rewarded.

(actually, I don't remember exactly when it picked up for me, but it did get a lot better and ended up to be a good one overall, IMO)

I really liked this movie. Agree with others it started really really slow. However, it does get better and better as it goes on. The movie just needed some tighter editing at the start. Would recommend this.
