BEANIE DOING WORK
Rookie running back Beanie Wells not only participated in practice Monday, but the work was the most Wells had done since his minicamp practices in May and he looked like he had turned the corner in his recovery from a lingering ankle sprain.
He looked explosive, he looked fast, moved around well on the field,” Whisenhunt said, noting Wells made it to the perimeter a couple of times.
Whisenhunt said he remains hopeful Wells will be able to get in his first preseason game Friday night against Green Bay.

Sounds good to me. Hopefully this ankle thing is behind him.

The thing I find amazing is he was shown noticeably limping in pre-game warmups on TV Saturday and 2 days later he looks explosive and moved around well on the field. I find that very strange. The guy misses nearly all of camp, tweeks it again and now this.

Agreed! We'll just have to wait and see how he looks Friday.

Good news....we get to take our new Beanie out for a spin on Friday!

Although it is against one of the worst run defenses in the NFL

I think if it were a regular season game he would have played. He was held out of the game by the coaches or training staff. Didn't want to take a chance in a meaningless game.

There is a simple explanation. Sometime when you hurt something it "effects the brakes more than the gas". Chris Wells even said this after he hurt his ankle the first time.

I have had an injury close to this. I could run and do just about anything, but when I went to slow down the thing hurt bad. When I walked it hurt as well, because the act of walking compared to running has a little more of a plant which is what sets it off.

So, I would imagine Wells can sprint, is ok cutting, and it still is a pain to stop or walk.

It really wasn't Beanie's ankle that was the problem. The trainers were using the wrong tape and the security guys weren't providing adequate protection from the media.

:D

Promising news, but there's always the concern about reinjuring the ankle.

Kind of like watching a gifted ballerina making magic 500 feet above the ground along the fine edge of a razor blade.

I'll feel much better once he has one or two games under his belt without the ankle bothering him.

It also gets better as you warm and loosen it up.

And it may be as simple as which foot he is cutting with. He could look much better to the left than to the right...... but I am not sure which ankle he rolled in the first place. IT is good news, but until we get a chance to see him, all we have to go off of is good news.

Ankles are so tenuous..I rolled mine playing in a college softball tournament back in the day and had to finish the 3 days left of the tournament with what I found out were torn ligaments on the inside and outside of my ankle. Playing left field sucked running on 1 leg, I'll tell you. I was in a walking boot for 4 months; 13 weeks, 3days. No more softball...

I am a little more hopeful. I had two or three severe sprained ankles during my high school basketball career that hurt like heck for a week, but were manageable with a brace after that.

If necessary, don't play beanie at all during the preseason and unveil him for week one for 10 carries.

Timm, I'm very hopeful for Beanie.. In my own case, not being in optimum shape like he isand previously hurting the same ankle slowed my recovery time. As I said, I was on a college softball team so I was in good shape, just not rock hard like he is now..
