Stephen Carlson is back for another season with the Chicago Bears. The veteran tight end has re-signed with Chicago for the third year in a row, per the NFL transaction wire.
Carlson joined the Bears during the 2023 offseason and spent the majority of the season on the practice squad. He appeared in one game that season, playing a single snap on special teams. Carlson re-signed in 2024 and was once again on the practice squad.
The Bears don't have much behind starter Cole Kmet at the position, but Carlson will be competing for a third-string spot when training camp begins. Since coming into the league in 2019, Carlson has six career receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown.
