Every week, the Beaver County Times recognizes individual athletes and teams for their impressive performances during the previous week of high school sports action. Here are the standout efforts from March 30 to April 5:
Mason went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the team’s 7-1 win over Hopewell
Baker collected two hits and three RBIs in the team’s win over Hopewell.
Leseiko was a steady presence on the mound for Ambridge as he went six innings, allowing just one run on three hits while fanning 12 in the team’s win over Hopewell.
Smetana was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs in the team’s 6-4 win over Ambridge on Tuesday.
Butler continued his strong season as he pitched a complete game, going seven innings and allowing one run on two hits while striking out 12 in the team’s 5-1 win over Hampton. He followed that game up with a 1-for-2, one-RBI effort on Friday in the team’s non-section win over New Castle.
Hill went 1-for-3 with two RBIs in the team’s series-opening win against Hampton.
Hughes put together a strong week for Beaver Area. On Tuesday, he went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the team’s 4-3 extra-inning win over Hampton to complete the sweep. He then recorded three hits with two RBIs in the team’s win over New Castle.
Coming out of the bullpen, Kisling hurled six innings, allowing just one run and striking out eight in the team’s win over Hampton.
Jackson drove home three runs with two hits in the team’s 10-0 win over Freedom Area.
Zahn was a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI in the team’s shutout win over Freedom Area.
Fields-Schulz tossed a complete-game shutout, striking out 13 in the team’s 7-0 win over Carlynton.
Hudac went six innings, allowing three hits and striking out 10 in the second game of a doublheader against Carlynton as OLSH took the game 5-1.

In the first game of a two-game series against Riverside, Lake went seven innings, allowing no runs on three hits and striking out 10 in the team’s 4-0 win.
Nardone was a big bat for Ellwood City against Riverside as he went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the team’s series-opening win over Riverside.
Despite the loss, Donovan went six innings, allowing just one run and striking out two batters in the team’s 1-0 loss to defending WPIAL Class 3A champions Avonworth on Thursday.
Kagle continues to impress for Quaker Valley as he went 2-for-3 with five RBIs in the team’s 12-2 win over Sewickley Academy.
Wagoner allowed just two runs in six innings of work as he struck out eight. He was also impressive with the bat, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the team’s win over Sewickley Academy.
Hare was impressive on Friday as Riverside split its season series against Ellwood City, winning 9-5. Hare went five innings on the bump, striking out 11 while also hitting two home runs finishing with three RBIs.
Garvin shut the door for Riverside, going two innings, striking out three and not allowing a run against Ellwood City.
Mayo went 1-for-4 with two RBIs in the team’s 3-0 win over North Catholic.
Young pitched a two-hit shutout against North Catholic as she struck out six batters.
Andrews fanned seven batters on Monday in the team’s 16-0 win over Carlynton before striking out another seven batters against Rochester on Friday.
Edmunds drove in four runs as she hit two doubles in the team’s win over Carlynton.
Bigi was a perfect 4-for-4 as she recorded a triple with three RBIs in the win over Rochester.
Sirko went 3-for-4 with a double in Sewickley Academy’s victory over Rochester.
Mosconi collected a hit while driving in three runs in the team’s 16-1 win over Aliquippa.
Gerrich also notched a hit with two RBIs in the team’s win over Aliquippa.
Eckert recorded the team’s overtime goal, which was his fifth of the contest in the team’s 10-9 win over North Catholic on Friday.
Seymour tallied a hat trick in the team’s overtime victory over North Catholic.
Retzlaff was a force for Sewickley Academy as she found the back of the net seven times in the team’s 17-6 win over North Catholic.
Eannarino was also a big contributor in the win over North Catholic as she netted five goals. She then scored an additional five goals against South Fayette on Thursday.
Machusko tallied five goals in the team’s 12-10 win over Shaler.

Therrien netted three goals in the team’s win over Shaler.
Kudratullaev was strong in net saving 15 shots in the victory over Shaler.
Reiner stopped 13 shots against Mars and recorded her 500th career save on Monday.
Westwood recorded three goals and five assists in the team’s 14-4 win over Trinity.
Roig found the back of the net twice while recording one assist in the win over Trinity.
Kinger surpassed a career milestone as she tallied eight goals over two games, which included her 100th career goal on Thursday against Knoch.
Wright netted four goals in the team’s 17-3 win over Ambridge.
Fair netted five goals in the team’s 23-3 win over Knoch.
Pagani recorded a hat-trick against Knoch.
Ceriani found the back of the net four times in the victory against Knoch.
Bonomo finished in first place in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter run while also running a leg on the winning 4X800-meter relay team in the team’s 95-51 win over Hopewell.
Jackson collected victories in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes during Beaver Area’s meet against Ambridge.
Marino picked up first-place finishes in the high jump, 100-meter and 400-meter dashes against Ambridge.
After running a leg on the winning 4X800 relay team, Biss picked up a victory in the 3,200-meter run against Ambridge.

Derek Hughes, Beaver Area
Hughes put together a strong week for Beaver Area. On Tuesday, he went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the team’s 4-3 extra-inning win over Hampton to complete the sweep. He then recorded three hits with two RBIs in the team’s win over New Castle.
Tanner Kisling, Beaver Area
Coming out of the bullpen, Kisling hurled six innings, allowing just one run and striking out eight in the team’s win over Hampton.
Carter Jackson, New Brighton
Jackson drove home three runs with two hits in the team’s 10-0 win over Freedom Area.
Jaxson Zahn, New Brighton
Zahn was a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI in the team’s shutout win over Freedom Area.
Iseia Fields-Schulz, OLSH
Fields-Schulz tossed a complete-game shutout, striking out 13 in the team’s 7-0 win over Carlynton.
Sean Hudac, OLSH
Hudac went six innings, allowing three hits and striking out 10 in the second game of a doublheader against Carlynton as OLSH took the game 5-1.

Aaron Lake, Ellwood City
In the first game of a two-game series against Riverside, Lake went seven innings, allowing no runs on three hits and striking out 10 in the team’s 4-0 win.
Will Nardone, Ellwood City
Nardone was a big bat for Ellwood City against Riverside as he went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the team’s series-opening win over Riverside.
Drew Donovan, Hopewell
Despite the loss, Donovan went six innings, allowing just one run and striking out two batters in the team’s 1-0 loss to defending WPIAL Class 3A champions Avonworth on Thursday.
Todd Kagle, Quaker Valley
Kagle continues to impress for Quaker Valley as he went 2-for-3 with five RBIs in the team’s 12-2 win over Sewickley Academy.
Nolan Wagoner, Quaker Valley
Wagoner allowed just two runs in six innings of work as he struck out eight. He was also impressive with the bat, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the team’s win over Sewickley Academy.

Hare was impressive on Friday as Riverside split its season series against Ellwood City, winning 9-5. Hare went five innings on the bump, striking out 11 while also hitting two home runs finishing with three RBIs.
Hunter Garvin, Riverside
Garvin shut the door for Riverside, going two innings, striking out three and not allowing a run against Ellwood City.
Softball
Bridget Mayo, Beaver Area
Mayo went 1-for-4 with two RBIs in the team’s 3-0 win over North Catholic.

Taylor Young, Beaver Area
Young pitched a two-hit shutout against North Catholic as she struck out six batters.
Charlotte Andrews, Sewickley Academy
Andrews fanned seven batters on Monday in the team’s 16-0 win over Carlynton before striking out another seven batters against Rochester on Friday.
Gabby Edmunds, Sewickley Academy
Edmunds drove in four runs as she hit two doubles in the team’s win over Carlynton.
Marie Bigi, Sewickley Academy
Bigi was a perfect 4-for-4 as she recorded a triple with three RBIs in the win over Rochester.
Quincy Sirko, Sewickley Academy
Sirko went 3-for-4 with a double in Sewickley Academy’s victory over Rochester.
Alizae Mosconi, New Brighton
Mosconi collected a hit while driving in three runs in the team’s 16-1 win over Aliquippa.

Brody Eckert, Moon Area
