Mar. 15—WAYNE, Neb. — Another pair of doubleheaders resulted in four losses for the Beavers this week.
Following up last week's tough four-game series against Augustana, the Bemidji State baseball team was swept in four by Wayne State down in Wayne, Nebraska on March 13-14. However, BSU put together a couple of competitive performances in the series.
Bemidji State led Thursday afternoon's series-opener 3-1 heading into the fourth inning. However, the Wildcats racked up eight runs in the bottom of the fourth to capture the lead. BSU chipped away at the advantage with a two-run sixth inning, but WSC ultimately held on for a 9-5 win.
The second game of Thursday's doubleheader was all Wayne State. The Wildcats cruised to a 12-0 win, collecting 15 hits while holding the Beavers to just two.
Friday's doubleheader featured a similar script. Bemidji State grabbed an early lead in the first game of the afternoon, but Wayne State recaptured it in the final four innings and came away with a 6-3 victory. The Wildcats dominated the final game of the series, running away with a 19-1 win.
BSU is back in action on March 22, traveling to Marshall for a four-game series against Southwest Minnesota State.
