Maybe there'll be a blizzard in Atlanta and we can go up to Detroit and play Northwestern Sunday.

Oh but we do have a choice. I was a big believer in him over the first few starts. But last weeks second half coupled with the Seattle game has turned me into a doubter. I Just don't see him being able to lead this team into the playoffs...let alone the Super Bowl. I hope I'm wrong!

I will always root my behind off for the Cardinals, but the chances of us getting to or winning the SB with Stanton are remote. I'll be content if we even get into the playoffs.

We ALWAYS have a choice-----I believe that Drew Stanton is now, and always has been, a backup quarter back in the NFL Granted, he starts for the Cardinals now, but that does not change the fact that he is a backup quality player.

Is he making strides to becoming a starting caliber QB? Probably. Has he reached that point yet? Probably not. He knows the playbook, due to his previous time under Coach Arians. He knows the playbook well enough that BA doesn't have to cull it in order for Drew to be able to function in it. BUT-----Drew simply does not have the same command of the offense that Carson Palmer has, so far as execution of the offense is concerned.

Palmer is much quicker at making reads. Stanton has trouble getting past his first read. Palmer is able to forget a bad play and go on with the game far easier than Stanton is. Palmer could throw a pick, and then go and throw a TD on the next series after the pick. Stanton threw two TD's early against the Lions, then threw a pick. He hasn't thrown a TD since, (except for the one that Juron Brown dropped just before halftime in the Seattle game). He hasn't led the team on any TD drive since he threw the 2 picks against the Lions. To me, that is telling.

It would appear that Stanton has a long memory of his bad plays, and has trouble forgetting the picks, and going on about his business. He seems more tentative, seeming to play more of a close in game as if his confidence has been shaken on the long passes.

Granted, he was getting pressured a lot by the Seattle defense. Their defense DID play a very good game, limiting our ability to run, and smothering our top receiver, Michael Floyd the whole game. As the hits and hurries came, Stanton seemed to go farther and farther away from the long pass, settling into short routes, often not long enough to convert on third down even if caught. I don't know if some of that was due to BA's play calling, or if it was all on Stanton, but the passing game definitely shortened up.

Stanton arguably has a better completion percentage at home than on the road, although there is not a real good volume of starts yet to make that a real significant point. Right now it appears to be a confidence thing with him.

Playing the Falcons in Atlanta on Sunday, may help his confidence some. They ARE not a good defensive football team. Stanton should be able to get back into a comfort zone and make some progress. I believe THAT is needed at this point in the season. I also believe that if he gets a couple of good wins under his belt at this time of year, he may also take a big step into becoming a genuine starting caliber quarter back. We shall see.

He can make all the throws honestly. He's more mobile than Palmer obviously. Towards the end of the season you need a qb who can run 5-10 yds for a first to extend drives. There is pros and cons. We need a little more "game manager" from him but the confidence is there and he just needs to take over the offense and be a leader! We can make up for some turnovers, just stay focused Drew we got you. And keep the negativity away please fans

We need not to forget this. Even though Stanton has been in the NFL going on his 7th year now, he has only played in 12 games with 8 starts. Until this season he has not played in a game since 2010. That is over 3 years. We cannot expect him to be able to read defenses like Palmer who has 144 games under his belt with 143 starts. Palmer has attempted over 4900 passes compared to Stanton's 312 attempts. All we can hope for is Stanton keeps improving with each start. We need to keep this real folks. Let's hope this coaching staff can accelerate Drew's progress quickly.

Great video! Mike Greenberg must have gotten no sleep that night.
Love that the MS wide receiver, Williams wore John Brown's number 12.

They won't play in their dome because of a blizzard?

I still think we get to 12-4--a first round bye and a home playoff game, but I don't believe we are a Super Bowl team, the offense just lacks something special enough to get us there. The running game is below average and the passing game is pedestrian--if we got to the SB the defense would have done a lot of scoring or gave us a lot of short fields due to causing turnovers.

Funny how before the season started many thought the offense was going to be this runaway locomotive that couldn't be stopped and the defense was going to be this old steam engine that would need a lot of repairs and its turned out to be the exact opposite.

I like our chances of going into Atlanta and coming out with a big 'W' to carry back to the Desert. One thing is for sure. These guys are not happy with the way things went in Seattle. Every one that I have heard comment on that game was upset that we didn't play better. I know that I wouldn't want to be the team facing Birdgang this coming Sunday. Some one is going to pay for what happened in Seattle, and it just might be the Falcons who do that paying.

There will be focus on the Falcons this week, but not nearly the focus that these players will put on their own efforts. This team knows how to practice and how to play. They will be honing their game to a 'keen' edge this week, and it will cut quickly and deeply on Sunday, I would not wish to be a Falcon or a Falcon Fan this weekend.

We won't blow them out. If we win, it will be close and down to the wire. The Falcons are in first place in their division and at home. They have a lot to play for.

I'll root for Stanton and support him, but only because he's what we're stuck with and I love this team. But I won't sugar-coat it simply because some people don't approve.

If we get to the playoffs, I don't expect him to carry us far. I was all in on Drew earlier in the year when he took over, but that was mostly predicated on him not throwing picks and making sound decisions. After those games BA said he was too cautious, but his caution is the only thing that made him serviceable in the short term.

Seattle gave teams the blueprint on Stanton: stack the box, stop the run, and force Drew Stanton to beat you. That's the way every team will play us from here on out.

Stanton's completion percentage is something awful. I've harped on it for years and people say it doesn't matter. It matters. People go crazy mad over Skelton and Kolb and Lindley but Drew's completion percentage is similarly awful (and Kolb's wasn't bad). He only gets a break because of this coaching staff I guess, but he is what he is and I don't expect his completion percentage to suddenly change, especially in the playoffs where every team has a good to great defense. It ain't happening.

Stanton stares down receivers. It's obvious on TV, how obvious do you think that is on the field? Playoff teams will destroy that every time. And frankly, all the best defenses and exotic stuff comes out in the playoffs, so I don't expect much, assuming he can even win another game or two to get us there.

My main thing is I don't have confidence that Drew can string plays together to lead drives. They don't all have to end in points, but you need first downs to let the defense rest. I don't think Drew can do that. That's where completion percentage comes in. He's erratic and can't string plays together. That's the thing about completion percentage and a Palmer or anyone at 62% is that even if drives don't end in points it let's your defense rest and changes field position. Drew can't do that.

Yes, I'm down on Stanton. Such a great year only to have Palmer go down. Drew can't make those same throws, doesn't have the pocket awareness, or frankly the footwork. On a bright note I do think he has leadership qualities and I also believe he's got huge stones. He's got a Palmer heart with an RG3 football intellect.

(Please football God's have someone bump this after we win multiple playoff games and a SB)

I admit it has been depressing and befuddling to see a guy who has been in the league as long as Stanton stare down WRs like he's a rookie. Frankly, it sucks.

I just hope the last two games were nerves knowing that it's all on his shoulders now. It IS different than the first time he stepped in. If he's smart enough, and coached well enough, hopefully he can recognize teams are totally going to follow his eyes now and he can look guys open.

If that doesn't happen, this season is going to drop like a white-hot brick put into your hand.
