6"47/8" 240 lbs

40 yd dash time= a) 4.81 and b)4.82
30" vertical jump
4.32 in the short shuttle
6.81 in the three cone drill

Threw 80 passes with "incredible accuracy"

Finished his drills by standing "flatfooted" and throwing to receivers in increments of 5 yds starting at the opposing 30 yd line. By the end of the drill he was hitting receivers in the end zone 60 yds away.

One NYG personnel said "I've seen enough........if Al Davis passes on this guy he's making a big mistake".

Ben's star is shooting up as I expected. I'll bet Marty et al are going to zero in on him.

If Big Ben's there and we don't take him, I'll want to cry. Last year was bad enough, with Lefty showing the skills he has, but it was a little more understandable...huge durability and mobility issues. With what Big Ben's showing, I don't see how we could pass up on him. But we will, I am sure :(

Stout, you're a mind-reader.

I'm going to have my Jack Daniels on hand come draft day--to drown my sorrows when we pass on him, or raise a toast to the bright future of the Cardinals. I hope it's the latter.

I won't cry if we're "stuck" with Fitz.

San Diego just might go with him since Boston is gone.

The only way I might consider a "cry" is if we pass on both Big Ben and Eli. It wouldn't be a cry but more like a WTF.

yeah, you're right, actually. It won't suck to be stuck with any of the top guys, really (strangely, I even feel at peace with Winslow). But, I really do hope Ben is our guy.

Ben Roethlisberger is who the Cardinals should draft. If I was the one drafting it would be a no brainer. A franchise quarterback is far more important than any other position and there won't be another QB in the same league as Ben R. in the draft for at least five years. If we want our franchise QB, now is the time to get him. This team has not had a great QB since Neil Lomax and I think it's about time we get one.

Damn you Spanky, it was so easy, MW or Taylor and then you have to complicate things with posts liek this :)

Early on I had Ben at 3 as my choice, but when Green stated he wouldn't take a QB, I stopped talking about it. I do have to say after reading stuff like this, if San Diego doesn't take Ben or Eli I'll be quite surprised. I've said all along I prefer Ben to Eli but figure most teams prefer Eli, I wonder if that's still the case?

That said, this is basically similar to all the gushing over Kyle Boller at this time last year, but IMHO Ben is a better prospect, Boller is a better athlete, but he was inaccurate in college so I'm not sure why his inaccuracy this year in the NFL was a surprise. Ben is much more accurate.
Boy it's getting complicated.

Take 'em! I've reverted back to the QB pick - Ben or Eli!

If Josh pans out, he is trade bait next year.

Remember when the Pack had Don Majkowski, but had to fool around with Blair Kiel, Anthony Dilwig, & Mike Tomczak for a few years because Majik Man was injury prone? He was a serviceable young QB, but he wasn't the "next level.".

They then took a gamble on Favre with a deal w/ATL & the rest is history.

I say pull the trigger & get Eli or Ben. We'll regret it like Atl had until they got Vick.

Why don't we just draft offensive players for the whole draft. That way, teams will still score 40 or 50 points against us, but we'll be able to score 40 or 50 points ourselves. Not too many wins, but it will be as exciting as hell. :D

Who in the world will throw the ball to Fitzgerald if the Cards take him? Josh is a horrible qb. I don't know why there are many who think he is a good qb. I like Parsons better than Josh. Take Eli or Ben, one of them will be available.

I have to admit, it sounds pretty impressive. I don't think the phrase "incredible accuracy" and "Cardinals Quarterback" have been used in the same sentence for at least 15 years.

Becuase Green said he was. When it comes to QB's I will give Green the benifit of the doubt as his track record has proven that he knows what he is talking about when it coms to QB's. Plus his system is very QB friendly. Heck Even old QB's and Jeff George had really great years under Green. Plus I dont think anyone thinks McCown is a good QB yet, people think he has a lot of potential under Green.

So if Green picks Eli or Ben I wont mind that either becuase again I will never doubt his QB selection, training, and QB friendly schemes. Other things I will doubt about, but not the QB position.

Sorry Stout...I just don't see the Cards picking Big Ben. Let me help you out with the tears in advance:

Well, you should take a box right with me, because it would be the second idiotic passing of a good QB in consecutive years. Believe me, it will come back to haunt us.

This is one of those examples of where a workout score can mean something.

Check Roethlisberger's 3-cone drill. I believe it, among other things, measures agility. The dude ran it in 6.81. (I believe Fitzgerald ran his in something like 6.97).

The knock on Roethlisberger has been that he looks "slow." Ben's cone time suggests otherwise - that he makes things look so easy that he merely appears slow.

Should we draft him?

It all comes down to what the scouts say and what Denny really feels. (i.e. Can McCown definitely get the job done? Do you or do you not pass up a QB as good as Roethlisberger now appears to be? And what's the team's philosophy toward using a disproportionate amount of cap space on a QB drafted so high?)

One thing is becoming clearer - It would either have to be McCown or Roethlisberger - not both. the Cards will have to go in one direction or another. If they drafted Roethlisberger, it would be unfair to McCown to string him along like the Bengals did Kitna. (It would probably mean trading or releasing McCown and starting Shawn King until Roethlisberger got up to speed).

I disagree. Start McCown this year. If he falters, in comes King. If not, and McCown plays well, you have increased trade value for him next offseason. You go into 2005 with Roethy as the QB and King backing him up.
