The Cincinnati Bengals remained quiet on Day 2 of NFL free agency since the market actually opened.
While rumors kept circulating about Tee Higgins and Trey Hendrickson trade speculation, the team itself wasn't making any moves -- beyond losing free agents.
The latest? Defensive lineman Jay Tufele signed with the New York Jets, finding his way to a new AFC team despite the Bengals having an obvious need there.
Cincinnati did re-sign B.J. Hill to help out the interior of the defensive line and brought on outsider T.J. Slaton to help out that interior's run defense. But the area is still very much a concern despite the presence of Kris Jenkins Jr. and McKinnley Jackson on the roster.
More to the point, it is downright surprising to see Tufele find a new home before the Bengals make an actual splash with an outside free agent. That's especially the case when it comes to the dire need at offensive guard, with the Bengals apparently showing interest in one of the top remaining names and ruling out another.
As such, fans getting impatient at the pace of things so far are well within their rights.
