Playing the Vikings brings back memories of Josh and Nate making 40,000 Vikings fans disappear in a flash.

So thought it would be a good time to have a thread to discuss the best or most exciting plays since the Cards moved to Arizona. This is for INDIVIDUAL plays not best games.

Here's my list:

1. Hightower's 4th down run vs Eagles in NFC Championship
2. Fitz 64 yd TD in the Super Bowl
3. Eric Metcalf's Kickoff return vs San Diego to set up winning FG in 1998
4. Butler's ricochet FG to beat Dallas in OT in '97.
5. Aeneas Williams 103 yd fumble return vs Redskins
6. Poole's catch vs Vikings
7. Spach's third down catch vs Atlanta in Wild Card
8. Lomax to Green for 9yd TD to beat SF after trailing 23-0
9. Morey's punt block to beat Dallas in OT
10. Tom Tupa to Ernie Jones for 72 yards to beat Dallas in 1989

Eric Swan's safety of Dave Brown in the south end zone to seal the 19-0 shutout of the Giants.

I dont see why Poole's catch is on the list, but I can agree with the rest of them. I would replace the Poole catch with either Rolle's touchdown against Atlanta or Antonio Smith's safety in the same game. Or how about Adrian Murrell's big run against the cowpukes in '98?

Good thread.

I have always been fond of Plummer's shovel pass to Murrell in the playoff game to score a TD.

First I thought Jake was sacked, then I thought he might have been killed, then I realized the Cards had a TD!

Great memories on those plays you picked, DuckJake.

Frank sanders one handed catch in the playoff game vs. Cowboys.

Quan's amazing TD run against Panthers in SDS where he breaks 6-7 tackles and wiggled his way to the endzone from about the 20. One of the most amazing TD runs ever!

adding on to #3, Chris Jacke making the FG to beat SD. IIRC, it was a 52 yarder.

I was thinking the same thing Shane

That play gave the Cards hope, then the long Murrell run to start the 2nd half broke their backs!!!

Me too. Great moment.

Overall great list.

Although maybe it doesn't make the list, one of the greatest recent moments for me was right after the Panthers opening drive in the playoffs last year, our first possession right after they scored when it felt like we were going to face tidal wave all game from the Panthers. Then Kurt strikes right back in to the heart of the Panthers with the 40 or 50 yard (can't remember) pass to Larry, and the Cardinals answered. Man that game was epic.

Here's mine in no order:

1) THT's TD on a 3rd down screen pass that made the Cards lead 8 instead of 3. So many people overlook what a differance that play made because Philly was so close to FG position

2) Frank Sanders juggling 1-handed catch against Dallas in '98 playoffs

3) Murrell's 60 yard run to start the 3rd Qtr in '98 playoffs

4) The Warner to Arrington to Fitz, double pass flea flicker

5) Lomax to Green in the back of the endzone to finish comeback against the Niners

6) Morey's blocked punt to win Cowpies game in OT. I think that game sparked the belief in this team they could achieve greatness.

7) Jacke's FG in '98 against SD sparking a SDS FG post party.

8) Aeneas's 103 yd return against the Redskins that probably kept the Cards in AZ

9) Fitz' go ahead TD in Super Bowl 43

10) Quans pinball run against the Panthers

No question. Maybe the best play I've ever seen.

How about Rod Tidwell's last second TD on Monday Night Football to beat Dallas? Any play to beat the hated Cowpies (real or make believe) has to be on the list.

Boldin's 54 yard TD against the 49ers in 2005 is one of my all time favorites. It seemed like he broke or avoided a tackle from every 49er defensive player on that run.

It was described like this in USA Today...
Everybody agreed Anquan Boldin had no logical business getting to the end zone, about 50 yards after he should have been tackled...Boldin's stumbling, staggering run through the 49ers' inept tackling was a fitting way to decide a 17-10 win over San Francisco...Boldin turned a short catch on third-and-20 into a 54-yard, broken-field TD rumble, avoiding five tackles and eventually diving into the end zone

If someone can find a video of it please post it.

Was this when the goalpost got torn down? Seems like that was before 97 but i don't know. One of my best memories from SDS.

Yes I believe they did.

The story behind that game was the Cowboys had a 13 game winning streak vs the Cards and had always had far more fans at the games than the Cards. A former poster on the old AOL Cards Corner board started a take back our stadium drive that was picked up by the team and local media.

So the stadium ended up being about 60-40% Cards vs Cowboys. The game was more like a college game than pro. Anyone who has ever been to a Texas-OU game will understand the atmosphere. So when the Cards won, like a big college rivalry game won by the underdog, down came the posts.

A large group of regular posters on Cards Corner got together for that game. Even Jeff Gollin flew in from New Jersey. He'll remember us almost getting crushed in post game celebratory bear hugs from JRein.

It was more exciting and electric than any other week two NFL game I've ever seen.

Fitz's go ahead TD in the Bowl. By a mile!! Only Cardinal play that I actually cried after. Right there in Raymond James Stadium, surrounded by Cardinal fans.... water works all around. It was a beautiful thing really.

Where you there ?

For which one, and why would it matter?

I am gonna go out on a limb and assume you're speaking of the Poole catch. I wasn't there, but you needn't be present in order to recognize greatness. It was a great play, but had no significance. That catch made us 4-12 and cost us the #1 overall pick. It even gave some people the false security of thinking their team had found a QB. I was super-pissed when Nate hauled that ball in.

Boldin's TD's against the Panthers and Whiners were awesome and far better plays IMO.

Funny, and sound reasoning!
