ua isn't even going to be in the top 2 in the preseason rankings for the Pac...Once again the entire Pac is good, but polls that try to sell instead of ranking teams as they deserve is a joke.
ASU doesn't even deserve to be number 1 in the nation. Oregon State deserves that nod over anyone else, just based on history alone.

^Doesn't that seem like kind of a silly way of looking at it? Your way of looking at it looks at total numbers, so obviously bigger states will 'win'. Arizona has 2 division 1 schools, and both are in the top 5. So 100% of the Div 1 schools in the state are ranked in the top 5, what other state can say anything close to that?

not silly at all - there is a lot of mobility in rankings throughout a year

the fact that a state doesn't have many teams would almost automatically preclude it from being the tops in a sport

depth is very key

texas has two teams in the top 10 and two more in the top 30

in fact I think the fact that with only having 3 schools that participate in D1 athletics hampers the state - especially when one of the three only fields a club team - if AZ was a hotbed for college baseball then NAU should at least have a team out there

it's pretty cool to have the #1 & #3 in the preseason - but I can't see how a state can be the best at something when they only field two teams

We used to have a pretty good team, but it was disbanded in the early 80's, when they built the natatorium on the baseball field.

Weather is really an issue for baseball in Flagstaff, as well.

^I bet the ball travels ridiculously far in Flagstaff, it would be like arena baseball.

NAU could field a solid team without a problem.
Az is a great state for baseball.
Growing up in this state, I used to play ball 11 months a year...name 10 more states that can pull that off...

Arizona is a baseball lovers paradise. Between Arizona Fall league, MLB, Spring training, and ASU, you can watch competitive baseball nearly year round.
