Good or bad looks like it's close to being a done deal. As a Hawks fan I'm still on fence with this but since we didn't give up much..I can't complain.

That is a steal and a joke of a trade. Your classic 4 dimes for a dollar trade. The Atlanta pick keeps getting worse and worse. If Bibby is healthy, the Hawks are definitely a playoff team.

Bibby
JJ
Childress
Josh Smith
Horford

Marvin Williams, Acie Law among others off the bench. Great trade for Atlanta.

This trade is going to be made for expiring contracts. The Kings should have pushed to get Acie Law.

This sucks. Damn Hawks trying to improve themselves and finding a team willing to give away a solid player for expiring contracts....

That pick was starting to look good, but now they'll probably make the playoffs because the east is so damn weak.

I wouldn't worry. Bibby is not healthy at all. He's still got a persistent hand injury in the form of torn ligaments that have kept him sidelined for most of the season. And that's assuming there's nothing else wrong with him too. The Hawks will be able to beat awful teams in the east next season, but this season they are one of those teams.

Plus, the Hawks have been coasting on an easy schedule. They will win one game through February, against the Knicks, 3-4 games in March against the Knicks (again), New Jersey, Charlotte, etc. and then the first night of their back-to-back against Philadelphia in all of April. Factor in a few more games they might win because the competition is tanking, and...

Final record: 30 - 52.

Yeah, they stink. In a good way.

ATL will still be a low seed or just miss the playoffs. As for our draft pick, it doesnt look good

I'll be so happy when this final link (draft pick) to the Hawks is over and they can quit worrying about the Suns benefiting from their draft pick.

Oh, those damn ping-pong balls. We should have had a top 4-6 in last years draft.

I would think so. I guess we will find out next week
Is Shaq healthy enough to help the hawks?

You're comparing somebody who has already played in 32 games this season (Shaq) to somebody who's 5 years younger and was so unhealthy that he only played in 15. I would say Hawks fans have cause for concern.

Childress is done for the season I think.

Anyway worst case we will get a pick between 16-18 or so , still enough to get a very good player in this draft.

Mike Bibby won't help anyone. He's so injury prone it's disgusting.

You can have all the talent in the world, does you no good if you can't get on the court. The Hawks will not make the playoffs. I'm not saying this as a Suns homer who wants a good pick, I don't even like the Suns. That being said..

The Hawks will not make the playoffs.

Draft order is incredibly overrated to begin with. Some years, it's all about getting that #1 overall pick so you can get a LeBron James or a Tim Duncan, but many times, even getting one of the first ten overall will get you exactly what you need. If your scouts know what they're doing, then even second-rounders whom nobody else expects anything from turn out to be difference-makers or bigtime stars. Case in point: superstars like Gilbert Arenas (31st overall), Carlos Boozer (34th overall), and Manu Ginobiliiiiiii (57th overall) were all second round picks.

more notable non-top 5 picks:

Joe Johnson (10th)
Mehmet Okur (38th)
Michael Redd (43rd)
Caron Butler (10th)
Amare (9th)
David West (18th)
Josh Howard (29th)
Deng (7th)
Iguodala (9th)
Josh smith (17th)
J.R smith (18th)
Delonte West (24th)
Kevin Martin (26th)
Varejao (30th)
Duhon (38th)
Bynum (10th)
Granger (17th)
Maxiell (26th)
Monta Ellis (40th)
Turiaf (37th)
Roy (6th)
Gay (8th)
Farmar (26th)
Daniel Gibson (42nd)
Millsap (47th)

so you see, with a decent scouting crew you can get quality players without having a top 5 pick. in many cases, you can get something outside of the top 10.

Your point is well taken, however, the Suns scouting (which used to be outstanding) seems to have weakened with the death of Percodini.
