Just heard on nfl radio that he said thanks but no thanks. He is, however, interviewing with multiple other clubs though.

Wow. I think the club's handling of Wilks is a motivation for him not coming here. I could be wrong.

They were saying on Moday's Ringer NFL Podcast that the Cards offered full personnel control to Mike McCarthy and he said no. (This might have been on the MM thread; I didn't really want to dig in there.)

I heard also that McCarthy turned down the Cards request for interview. Regardless of the candidate, this shows how bad this organization is viewed (and rightfully so, given that Keim is still employed). To lay complete blame on the coach only was a bad move.

Where there is smoke, there can be fire. It could be a statement against the Cardinals firing a minority candidate after only one season. It also isn't like he doesn't have other options. If this is the cost of getting rid of Wilks, I will pay it.

It's pretty interesting remember Wilks was like the 4th choice last year.

Wonder why no one wants this job and it's can't be SK cards have always had trouble

McCarthy wants to stay near Green Bay as his kids are still in hs there. It’s on record saying they’re going to finish high school in GB. That’s no way a knock on the cards.

I'm sure the Cards wanted to interview McCarthy, but im not entirely convinced that Bidwill was going to offer full control of personnel decisions.

This...He could probably have full control, with the exception of Rosen...and MM may not want Rosen, because of his relationship and similar mental makeup to AROD.

Hell, NFL Network leads off the scroll of news about the Cardinals with McCarthy turning us down. Then lists those we are interviewing. When listening to the panel talking about how unfair it was to fire Wilks, one of them referred to Wilks as a high profile minority candidate. I then knew where it was heading. No stats, no substance to the argument other than it wasn't fair. They did point to a rookie QB but it was evident they were far from knowledgeable about the situation.

That is not fair, especially if that is the reason.

1. Lots of heresay
2. Teams get turned down all the time (not a fit, location, don't think it's serious offer, etc)
3. Anyone that bashes the Cards for firing Wilks is intellectually dishonest and destroys their own argument before even stating it.

Any coach that turns us down based on such lack of thinking probably doesn't have the mental chops to run a successful team. In the NFL you have to deal with bs all the time, and if a coach is out there believing any little thing... I say good luck to that team. If anything, the losers would be weeding themselves out. Thanks!

That said, I don't necessarily believe they are turning us down for that reason, I just think the media wants clicks and controversy no matter how stupid it sounds.

It really could be that our top guys already scheduled interviews.

Besides, the McCarthy thing sounds a bit far fetched considering MB was showing he was fully behind Keim. Doesn't make much sense to be that behind Keim yet wanted to give McCarthy full control. Maybe we had interest, and maybe still do, but not with full control. Hell, we don't even know that McCarthy wants full control.

I'm confident that the Cardinals are looking in the right areas. Whether or not they pick the right guy and whether the right guy will be succesful is another matter. They have some plan, it looks acceptable (strong offensive background), and they are going about it in a timely manner.

ESPN/NFLN and the rest of the charlatans can sell snake oil to the masses and hopes it doesn't reinforce why places like ESPN are losing hundreds of thousands of viewers a month.

This is how far BSPN has fallen. Once upon a time they were an enjoyable network to watch. It used to be on in my house almost 24/7. And now they've decided to be political and their politics takes away from the sports. Throw in the fact that their sports coverage is limited to Boston, NY, and L.A. and you have what you have. None of these so called experts even paid attention to the Cards let alone spent any time watching them. As for the bolded line above, several teams had rookie/2nd year QB's and did fine. Mayfield blew it up, Mahomes had a ridiculous year, Trubisky had a decent year, Darnold and Allen showed promise so the rookie QB line is a stretch at best.

I'm sorry what in the hell is wrong with people?

Anybody that is stupid enough to think Wilks was fired because of his race is too stupid to live.

If there is such racism in the organization how the F did he get hired in the first place. Why would anyone jump to his skin color as the reason for his firing over the fact he is a HORRIFIC COACH. Good lord the man screwed up 3 or 4 clock situations that prevented field goals that could have won games. The team was 3 and 13 - and was blown out repeatedly.

The team was UNWATCHABLE - literally the most boring football I have seen in 25 years of watching the cardinals.

Only someone who is trying to start a race war, or is supremely virtue signaling could possibly blame this on the mans race. It's disgusting.
