NEW YORK - Get ready for Marquette-St. John's III.

The teams will meet again on Friday night in the Big East men's basketball tournament semifinals at Madison Square Garden.

If it feels like the teams just played ... that's because they did, with the Red Storm ruining Marquette's Senior Day on a buzzer-beater in overtime on Saturday at Fiserv Forum.

"That also was a high, high level game," MU head coach Shaka Smart said after an epic 89-87 victory over Xavier. "It lasted 45 minutes. There are a lot of things we take from that game that we want to do better."

Matchup to watch: Zuby Ejiofor inside

Ejiofor is the player who broke MU's hearts with his short shot to beat MU on Saturday.

When Smart mentioned the loss after the Golden Eagles' win over Xavier on Thursday, MU senior Kam Jones let out a pained expression.

The Golden Eagles will be keyed in to stopping Ejiofor, who had 30 points and 25 rebounds combined in the Red Storm's two regular-season victories over MU.

Number to watch: 19,812 fans at Madison Square Garden

Second-year coach Rick Pitino has ignited the Red Storm's fan base, and Friday's game will undoubtedly be sold out.

St. John's plays a handful of home games at Madison Square Garden every season, and the Red Storm beat MU in the building on Feb. 4.

This will be a more heightened atmosphere than when MU played Connecticut and its rabid fans in the Big East semifinals in 2023. The Golden Eagles, by the way, won that game.

Marquette vs. St. John's predicition

This is where MU thrives under Smart, with a nobody-believes-in-us angle to play with his team.

The Golden Eagles will be able to hang with the Red Storm, but the raucous environment will be too much to overcome.

Expect another classic, with the Red Storm earning a slight edge.

Prediction: St. John's 78, Marquette 75
