My best friend was in Sedona this weekend and was staying at the same hotel as Big. Big was apparently there for a wedding. My friend knows his football and said that Big looked ripped. Very good definition in Chest, stomach, arms and legs. They were both at the pool. He said he almost looked like a basketball player. Not an ounch of fat on him. My friend is not prone to exaggerating. I think this is a good sign! My friend asked if it was Big's contract year.

I've got a hunch the nickname "big" referred to something other than his weight. You don't just give a guy a nickname like that because he weighs a lot.

Answer: He's in HIS CONTRACT YEAR.

That's why. He'll be a pro bowl player for ONE YEAR...at least we'll see him great for this season.

Funny how the contract year the player produces.

It is a contract type of year for Big, no doubt.

Or and this is a big or...

He's bought into everything the current regime is selling, including what his new Oline coach is preaching. He's in great condition because he's excited for the season!

I am doing a little Kool-Aid dance right now.

This is his 3rd year playing exclusivley at LT. The 3rd year is when guys usually show their capabilities. I look for a big year from Big and look for him to move into elite status. I don't think he's underachieved much. He was thrown into different positions early in his career and , since DG arrived and put him where he should've been all along, has now settled in and will dominate. Most OL's take about 3 years to develop.

Sounds like Vince has a serious case of post-adolescent angst. Or....

Big has lost weight every year coming into camp since being moved to LT.

He used to be 380+ when he played OG. He went down to 368 last year. So it isnt like he has only lost weight during a contract year only. Now he weighed in at 365 for the first team workouts.

There is a first for everything.

I believe we should re-do his contract now. Save a few bucks this year and make it a non issue next year. Every year BIG seems to make improvements this year he has to work on penalties.

I agree, if big can eliminate the mental mistakes with regards to the ill timed penalties he can be a force in this league. He was on the cusp of making the Pro-Bowl last year.

So, he will be quicker on his False Starts?

So fast the Refs wont even notice it.:D

Also ask any OL or Ref and they will tell you the bigger you are the easier it is to tell when you false start if you are an OT.

Seriously, on a couple of his FSs last year he barely twitched but because of his size, he was spotted right away.
