Figured with George Mason's run to the Final Four, a topic/poll is in order.

Who was the biggest Cinderella Story?

2006 George Mason (Goes to the Final Four, and possibly beyond. Wins over the defending National Champion North Carolina and a team by and large many had going the distance)

1985 Villanova (Sneaks in with an 18-11 record, beats the vaunted Georgetown Hoyas in the National Championship Game)

1983 North Carolina State (Surprises everyone by getting to the Championship Game, then shocks the world by stunning Houston's Phi Slamma Jamma squad who was expected to win by double figures)

Granted, George Mason hasn't won the National Title yet, and it's uncertain if they will. The other two teams won the whole kit and kaboo, however the flip side of that is that both Villanova and North Carolina State had played at a high level of competition all season long before making their run in to the Championship games..

Mason, no question. The crazy thing is they are good enough to win this damn thing! They have knocked off nothing but the best in MSU, NC, and U Conn. Amazing! Had Nova won, I'd have been terrified of that matchup.

Last team with this kind of upset buzz was Loyola Marymount in 89 or 90, I can't remember which. i think they made it to the elite 8 but got stomped by Larry Johnson and UNLV

It was 1990.. That team took College Hoops by storm, averaging (I believe)over 120 points per game. They ran a run and gun style casual fans gravitated to, then became the sentimental choice when Hank Gathers tragically passed.
