I am bored after watching the D-Backs game. I am waiting to tailgate tomorrow, so I thought of a poll:

Biggest Homerun of All Time:

Which do you think is most significant?

It is generally accepted that the biggest HR of all time (even though it is before most of your times :) ) is Bobby Thomson's HR in the final game of the 1951 NL playoff series.

The Giants overcame a Dodger 13 1/2 game lead, as well as a Dodger lead in that game to win the pennant.

It's called, "The shot heard 'round the world".

Thomson had hit a HR off Ralph Branca -- the starter in Game 1. When Charlie Dressen, the Manager, went to his bullpen with Thomson up with 2 runners on base in the bottom of the 9th in Game 3, who did he go to? Ralph Branca.

Evidently it didn't bother Branca too much. For years, he toured the country with Bobby Thomson.

As a Dodger fan then (I was 10 at the time), do you know how it much it pains me, to this day, to even mention it?

I would have voted for Bill Mazeroski's homer in the bottom of the 9th in game 7 of the 1960 WS against the Yankees. Still to this day the only "walk off" home run to win a game 7 in the WS.

My pops was at that game so it holds a certain aire in my family

I have to go with Carter. A walk off homerun to win the World Series is unbelievable.

The Drama that was created with Kirk Gibson was just unbelievable... he limps into the on deck circle... For some reason, you just knew that it was going to be a HR - even though he was facing Eck. What a moment.

Second best was Hank Aaron passing the Babe.

Bingo!

This is the only game 7 WS winner. This is the one you hit in your mind over and over as a kid every time you play ball at the park with your friends. My Dad was a HUGE Pirates fan frrom Johnstown and I was too until we got our own team.

Hammer'n Hank hit the home run that over took Babe Ruth's record. The fall of that record, by a man of color in the 70's was special.

Bonds, I don't even care about.
