I have to believe the Walton household erupted when Luke was picked by the Lakers. I am not harping as bad on this pick as others. The Lakers need assists, and Walton CAN pass. They also need more hustle players on this team around Kobe and Shaq. I know they have Madson, but he can't even pass, dribble, shoot or walk! :D Walton is an upgrade here. Also, the biggest factor in this pick, can you say UNGUARANTEED salary. If he busts like you guys hope, it won't hurt the Lakers at all! The Lakers needed rebounding, hustle, 10-15 foot jump shooters, and it looks like that's what they drafted with their two picks. I like our picks, but I was sure hoping the Lakers would have a worse draft.

WHy would I hope that Walton busts?

I admittedly am having a hard time thinking of the fact that I now have a reason to pull for a Lakers player.....

I think it's funny, and maybe not so coincedental that Bill Walton is a Laker lover/apologist, and his son gets drafted by them...

I absolutely loved the Lakers 2 picks. Brian Cook, if he can become a little more physical, could be the perfect compliment to Shaq in the triangle. He has a very good jumper and is an underated passer. If he can play some defense and rebound he will be a great addition to the team.

Walton was a great pick IMO. He is also a perfect fit for the offense, but he needs to learn how to 'D' up. I couldn't be happier with who the Lakers ended up with.

I really think Barbosa is a great pick up for you guys. Very athletic, and for a 6'4" guy he is an outstanding wingspan. He will play much taller than he is. I don't know much about the other guy though.

you're right chap.

if yao ming, richard jefferson, and luke walton all join a team, bill will have to retire!

imagine bill announcing laker games this year...

"i don't even have to say anything. but i will. now there's a kid that knows how to pass. his father must have played the game right. he'll set up robert horry, who is the greatest low post passer of our generation, and he will make the team better"

what if his son gets a malone elbow or plays against randy livingston? will bill walk onto the court and throw down? he should be alowed to do laker games. maybe abc will actually be listenable.even if it is the lakers....

I'm just really dreading watching both Luke Walton & Mark Madsen dancing next to each other and doing the running man or something.

See chap, I think this is an advantage, this just allows our hate of the Nets and the Lakers to grow, and reach cartoonish supervillan levels.

You misunderstand me, Chris.

I am a UofA grad, and it will be awfully hard for me to pull for those guys considering what teams they are on...

I was rooting for Jefferson until he made thous comments at the All-Star game about Marbury and Marion not being worthy.

Uh, Lakeshowman, it's a lot easier to play D, when ALL the guys on the Lakers force their guys baseline towards Shaq! He will fit all the other defensive types on the Lakers just fine!

I completely agree, BUT Shaq must come back in better shape than he was last year. If he is as slow lateraly as he was this year the Laker's defense will continue to struggle to make stops.

Exactly what comments were those?

If you're talking about the ones where he complemented Amare Stoudemire's contributions to the Suns, then I'm confused as to why that makes you not like a guy.

personally, i just hope that the refs start making the calls the way that the rules are written. if they do then shaq fouls out in about 3 mins of playing time and we have to see if kobe can really lead the laker to a championship by himself. i personally believe that shaq gets away with more offensive fouls that arent called then any player in nba history. everytime shaq post up he creats contract with with the defender that he shouldnt do and should have a foul called for it.

Yawn!!! This arguement is so tired. If ever foul that players cover Shaq got called then he would foul out every teams frontcourt by halftime. It goes both ways.
