I know from people close to the former staff that Bettcher was Keim’s primary choice and the Wilks hire was a late surprise.

Where else did Wilks interview? He was a one-year coordinator.
If it was Wilks or Bettcher, it probably didn't matter.

"especially if the defense continues to get gashed on the ground, with a regular monday morning explanation of "guys arent in their gaps -- its just one guy every play"

The deadpan,Whiz-like responses make me crazy. "We'll get back at it and address these things in practice"

Fire everyone after the season. Hire Josh McDaniels
He’ll back out after the playoffs.

Then instead of hiring after all the prospective coaches have gone elsewhere, we just put out a classified ad who wants to coach this team, come on in.

Fact is if we do get rid of this staff, who would want to come here? There’ll be a hard time signing free agents too.

Honestly, I think the only team with a consistent OL is the Rams, & they were what? Sacked 5 times today?
Titans had a good OL for the past 2 years & they were sacked 11 times today.

I think you’re right on a couple of points. Effective OL guys are in short supply. The defenses are way ahead of the offenses when it comes to rushing the passer. However, lots of other teams can run the ball. That at least opens up the passing game a little. I’d settle for that for now.

He also had HC interviews with the Giants, Colts and Titans.

Where the NFL has changed regarding running the ball is that you generally have to do something to create positive angles for linemen. That can be formation or motion, but that is what the best teams in the NFL are doing to combat the new age of defensive linemen.

Man, I really hope Bidwill didn’t say he wasn’t looking for a Xs & Os coach, but a “leader of men”.

What a stupid ass thing to say.

It is not easy to remake a NFL roster. Ask the Seven New Head Coaches in the NFL this year who have combined for:

12 Wins

and

28 Losses

Four of those new Head Coaches are 1 and 5.

Players contracts are not guaranteed; head coaches are. Wilks signed a 4 year guarantee. Coaches, even coordinators, are much cheaper. Expect them to dump McCoy and maybe one defensive guy to appease the fans. I don’t see a Bidwill eating 4 years based on genetic programming.

This sounds right. Cardinals will market the heck out of top 5 pick. Then activate their zombies at 98.7 to trick the masses like this year. Forecast for Cardinal fan is:

Am I the only one that is seeing some signs of change with this team over the course of the season so far? Or is it just my imagination or the:koolaid:? I don't know. Maybe it's not enough or fast enough of a change?

I guess I just find it hard. Why I was always on the bottom rung looking up, I guess?

Buck stops with the owner.

I keep waiting for some sign of life, but I don't see it. Time to "declare victory" and go for a clean sweep.

First thing Michael needs to do is obtain the services of a knowledgable football person (i.e. someone who knows how winning teams are built and when to "hold em or fold 'em."). Someone whose judgment he can trust.

Then both need to be clear on and buy into the mission - i.e. playoffs in X years. And then Michael needs to take a back step and give his dude free rein to hire, fire and trade whomever he wants.

Scary way to fly (& not without some risk) but that's how it's done.

Semi side topic: Would we be happy if Pat Kirwin were given keys to the car? Think he'd accept the right deal?

Michael has done a phenomenal job since taking over for his dad.Everybody makes mistakes. The test is whether now that he should realize a mistake was made with the HC what does he do about it.

“It’s a team game,” Fitzgerald said. “Everybody’s got to be held accountable. None of us has done a good enough job to this point to be successful. To try to blame one person is not fair or right. Unfortunately in this profession, there always needs to be a finger pointed at somebody. Somebody has to be blamed. It’s always been that way, and it’s unfortunate.”
