Scenario 1: The Jacksonville Jaguars trade up from #9 with the Oakland Raiders for the #2 pick and select WR Larry Fitzgerald from Pittsburgh. The Jaguars send the Raiders their #9, S Donovan Darius and their 3rd round pick in exchange for the #2.

Scenario 2: The Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns have heated discussions Friday night before the draft and have the following blockbuster trade set on the condition that Larry Fitzgerald is taken prior to the #3 pick.

The Browns receive: #3 pick (T Robert Gallery), SS Adrian Wilson, T Anthony Clement and the Cardinals' 5th Round pick.

The Cardinals receive: #7 and #38 picks, T Ryan Tucker and WR Dennis Northcutt.

The First Round goes like this:

1. NYG (from San Diego): QB Eli Manning, Ole Miss

2. JAX (from Oakland): WR Larry Fitzgerald, Pittsburgh

3. CLE (from Arizona): T Robert Gallery, Iowa

4. SD (from NYG): QB Philip Rivers, NC State

5. WAS: S Sean Taylor, Miami

6. DET: TE Kellen Winslow II, Miami

At #7 the Cardinals trade down again...this time with the Buffalo Bills and receive the Bills' #13 and #43 picks. Now the Cardinals have selections #13, #33, #37, #43, #64 and #100.

7. BUF: QB Ben Roethlisberger, Miami (OH)

8. ATL: WR Roy Williams, Texas

9. OAK: RB Steven Jackson, Oregon St.

10. HOU: DT Vince Wilfork, Miami

11. TB (from Pitt): Tommie Harris, DT, Oklahoma

12. NYJ: CB DeAngelo Hall, Virginia Tech

13. ARZ: LB Jonathan Vilma, Miami. Best LB in the draft. Cardinals love his versatility and outstanding range...can play inside and out. A natural fit here. If Vilma is taken by the Jets...the Cardinals will hop on DeAngelo Hall and draft a LB at #43 instead...like Dontarrious Thomas of Auburn.

The rest of the Cardinals' selections go as follows:

33. DT Donnell Washington, Clemson

38. S Bob Sanders, Iowa

43. CB Joey Thomas, Montana St. (LB Dontarrious Thomas-if CB Hall is #13)

64. G Sean Locklear, NC St.

100. DE Isaac Hilton, Hampton

These trades yield the following starters: RT Ryan Tucker (an immediate upgrade over Anthony Clement), WR Dennis Northcutt (will start with Anquan Boldin and Bryant Johnson in the 3 WR sets), LB Jonathan Vilma (who would likely start initially at SOLB), DT Donnell Washington (rotates with Marcus Bell at NT), and SS Bob Sanders. CB Joey Thomas and G Sean Locklear will have a good chance to compete for starting positions...and Isaac Hilton could earn significant time as a nickel speed rusher opposite Bertrand Berry. The common denominator for all of these players: FOOT SPEED...and Dennis Green almost always drafts for speed.

Of course...if WR Larry Fitzgerald is not taken at #2...the Cardinals keep the pick and focus on the best player available at each pick.

But, does Dennis Green have a few tricks up his new Cardinal red sleeves?

Walter!

Have you not heard anything Green has been saying? We need impact players. There are 7 blue chip players in this draft. Why, on a team in such desperate need of an impact 'stud', would you trade out of that spot??

We dont need 10 draft picks of guys who need to be developed. We need a superstar!

Dont do it!

Jonathan Vilma will be a star in this league.

Bob Sanders will be a bust. He's too small to play SS in today's NFL. At #38 overall, he'd be a tremendous reach. Guys like Winslow, Shockey, Gonzales, etc. will eat him alive. Essentially trading A. Wilson for him would be insanity. Also, getting younger still on defense probably isn't the way to go.

This team doesn't need more players. It needs just a couple playmakers to galvanize the unit. :(

He is a better player than Clement.

Well, first of all he's a center (NFL.com's Player Card), so I doubt it. I'm not ready to give up on Anthony Clement. Considering the coaching that that front five has gotten the past three years, I don't know how you can give up on any of 'em.

Sorry, but why do I have to give Cleveland Clements and Wilson? Look at Dennis Northcutts stats. He has NEVER had a catch longer than 44 yds and avgs around 12 yds per catch. We have that already in Bryant Johnson.

Wilson currently is a starter and will be better under DG.

I'll take Winslow if thats all thats left and the BPA at #33 which could be DT, like Donnell Washington, An OL, like Chris Snee, or a LB like Daryl Smith or Teddy Lehman. Or Maybe 1 of the wr's that slips out of the first round like Clayton or Jenkins.

He was drafted as a Center, but ended up playing Right Tackle for the Rams since he couldn't displace Gruttadauria before moving on to Cleveland and going back to Center.

Ryan Tucker gets off the ball and plays with a mean streak. He's Pete Kendall in a tackle's frame. IMO, very solid.

The same Rams that immediately released him to get a real RT in Kyle Turley!?

The biggest weakness of the Browns since their reincarnation has been thier offensive line. Why would we want their garbage? Cleveland was 20th in the NFL in rushing!

So if he's Pete Kendall in a tackle's frame, does that mean he'll talk a good game, get flagged for 15 yards four times a season, and never complete 16 games? We need another guy like that.

#38 is def a reach for Bob Sanders...

If the Giants trade up, it's for Gallery not Manning. Too many teams want Gallery and the only way to get him is to trade above the Raiders.

Walter, I like your style and I would take all those first round picks in a New York minute.

Walter - I love you.

But I hate your draft/trade scenario.

It's Deja Pace/Johnson all over again.

Ryan Tucker started 16 games for the Browns. He was penalized 6 times (3 holding, 3 false starts) for 45 yards and gave up 5.5 sacks for 43 yards.

Anthony Clement started 16 games for the Cards. he was penalized 8 times (7 false starts, 1 holding) for 45 yards and gave up 6 sacks for 34 yards.

Explain to me again how this is an upgrade?

Do the freaking math!

Two less penalties, and one half less of a sack!

Too much trading down for my taste. Last year Dennis Green said during the draft (host on ESPN) that he tries to avoid trading down because you give up value and the opportunity to get a difference maker. He was critical of the Cardinals passing on Terrell Suggs because he had been a productive player who played a position Arizona needed upgrading. If you look at Green's draft history he hasn't been involved in many trade down situations. If Fitzgerald is available at number 3 he will be the pick. If Manning and Fitz go 1-2 then number 3 becomes the Gallery pick and he might drop one spot with the Giants and pick up their third rounder in the swap. Arizona would then choose either Sean Taylor, Kellen Winslow or Roy Williams. IMO that is the only trade down Green will make to ensure his Cardinals get one of the 7 best players.
