Bloodsport (remake)

http://variety.com/2013/film/news/r...e-van-dammes-bloodsport-exclusive-1200567503/

Relativity is re-booting “Bloodsport,” Jean-Claude Van Damme’s 1988 breakout film, with “V for Vendetta” director James McTeigue directing.

Relativity is producing with Edward R. Pressman, Chris Brown, Alberto Lensi, Australia-based Pictures in Paradise and Trans-American Films Intl. The film, which has not been cast, will explore the life of 21st century mercenaries as they collide with the underground world of Brazilian Vale Tudo fighting.

The script, written by “Taken” scribe Robert Mark Kamen and based on a story developed by Kamen and Phillip Noyce, will be rewritten by Craig Rosenberg under McTeigue’s supervision.

Relativity will distribute domestically and handle foreign distribution through its output partners. “Bloodsport” will be shot in Australia and Brazil during the first quarter.

LOL Bloodsport was a crappy movie, no doubt about it. Other than being JCVD's breakout film and a bit cheesy, what's the big deal about a remake? Hell, JCVD himself remade the damn movie!! They called it Kickboxer.

It doesn't sound like a remake so much as a movie that explains where the kumite got its origins. I'll allow it.

A guy I work with was wearing a Bloodsport t-shirt on an institute (no students, I'm a teacher of course) day. I walked up to him and said in my best Donald Gibb impersonation "Guess the kumite starts one day early this year, huh fella?" He looked at me like I had three heads. Didn't even know what the kumite was. What a poser!!

My favorite 80's cheesefest movie ever! I'll add this to my list of movies that I will stop to watch every time it is on TV.

Who doesn't like a slo-mo, blinded JCVD giving Bolo Yeung an open-palmed jab to the gut?

Because it's a cheesy man film that's perfect for what it's supposed to be--something that calls to the primal man in a perfectly stupid way :D

80's martial arts movies were the best! I have the kumite theme song stuck in my head right now.

It's not Road House cheesy. Now THAT would be a travesty.

I laughed my Ass off when I read this. I love this movie and will watch it whenever is on TV. I was so disappointed when I grew up and found out frank dux was a total fraud
