Blow for Bayern Munich as defender suffers ACL injury
Alphonso Davies will miss the rest of the season after the Bayern Munich defender sustained an ACL injury.
Davies was forced off with a knee problem in the 12th minute of Canada’s 2-1 win over the United States on Sunday. Scans have now revealed the extent of the issue and it’s bad news for the Canadian and Bayern, with Davies facing an extended spell on the sidelines.

The 24-year-old has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, according to German outlet BILD, and will spend at least six months out. He will play no part in the run-in or this summer’s Club World Cup. It’s disappointing news for Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany, whose side are chasing success in Germany and Europe this season.
Davies has been a regular in the Bayern side this season. He’s made 30 appearances across all competitions, scoring three times and providing two assists.
Bayern are six points clear of Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title race, with eight games to go. In the Champions League, the Bavarians face Inter Milan in a huge quarter-final tie next month.
