Julio Lugo said he was safe, and after 19 innings and almost 7 hours, he wasn't sticking around for extended conversation on the subject. Lugo scored from third base on a contested play at the plate, giving the Atlanta Braves a 4-3 win in 19 innings over the Pittsburgh Pirates early Wednesday morning.

No... Ump is human. Human's make mistakes... What NEEDS to happen is Bud the Slug needs to bring baseball into the 21st century and put replay to use! ;)

You make a horrid call like that, expect repercussions.

And yes, we need replay, especially plays at the plate

Maybe there should be a limit to how long a game can go into a night, so we don't have umpires giving games away so they can go to McDonald's or to meet up with Eugene Robinson or something.

I agree. The ump needs to be suspended and/or fined. He single handily decided that game with arguably the worst call in MLB history. Doesn't matter if the game had been going on for 7 hours, 19 innings and it was 1:30 in the morning.

Before yesterday, I was anti-replay in baseball. Now, I may be changing my stance.

I agree the ump should be held accountable(fined/suspended), but I do appreciate the fact that he admits he may have blown the call. Much better than NBA refs who will never admit fault and are never held accountable.

Let's hope the Diamondbacks don't finish one game behind the Braves for the wild card.

So many times when the ball beats the play, they are out. What happened here?

Horrible call. Have seen the replay a ton of times. Looks nothing like an "ole." He gets the ball, holds the glove out until it touches the sliding player, then raises it up to keep it from being knocked away and to show that he has the ball. Textbook out.
