Was it just me or were there more calls this season that truly effected the outcome of Cards games then in prior years? I started this subject thread for us to list all of those calls. I will start the list with the blown Adrian Wilson personal foul call that runied a great rally at Baltimore.

Interested to see how many "bad" calls there really was....

First game of the season. Eric Green intercepts a ball in the end zone and was practically carried out of bounds. It was a clear push out.
However, I don't recall what the outcome of that drive was. Maybe somebody else can recall.

Week 3 - Ravens game. Adrian is hit for a personal foul. He turned his shoulder into heap but was called for a hit to the head. Adrian crushed him while they were both in the air but the shoulder contact was incorrectly ruled a head shot.

It gave the Ravens the ball on the 35 yard line with less than a minute left in the game. We lost by a FG at the horn.

Sickening.

The worst call I can recall actually went the Cards way, when Reggie Wells pulled the ball away from the Rams defender who had fallen on a fumble in the end zone. I have no idea how the refs made that call; but I'll take it.

I know there was one big one that gave the Cards a win over Cleveland. Winslow's touchdown at the end would have won it for the Browns. I think, as usual, it was pretty balanced.

Yep. The only time I have ever remembered the Cards be the beneficiary of a completely blown call.

It's tough being a fan of a team like the Cardinals. You always have to check for a flag first before cheering a big play.

It's why you hear those delayed roars from the crowd.

TD CARDINALS!...thousand one, thousand two, thousand three...

YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so true, so true

I have been conditioned to assume all really good plays will get called back

I think even Pasch has been effected -- I know on at least one TD call, he finished by saying "....and no flags!......"

Braylon Edwards long touchdown. He was clearly touched and they still gave it to him.

At the end of the day -- I dont really beleive that "if only the referees would have gotten it right, the Cards would have been 10-6" or something like that.

Was the call on AW a bad one in the Balt game? Yes -- but even if the Refs had gotten it right, Balt would still have had the ball at their own 46 with :54 secs left and two time outs. Lots of time for several throws to move into FG range. Also, even if they didnt, the game goes into overtime and there is no guarantee the Cards win then.

I think a far, far bigger factor were injuries. Somebody posted a John Clayton analysis that put the Cards in the top quarter of the NFL for starter games lost. Compare that with a team like Green Bay -- Somers posted in his blog that GB hasnt lost a starter for more than one game in over two years.

Injuries do matter, and the teams that avoid injuries 1. to their key players and 2. a rash at one position are in a far better position to win than those that dont.

I still think that the second bs call, I forget which game, on Wilson affected the play of the defense for the rest of the season. They just didn't hit like they had up to that point. Penalties can have long term effects as well as immediate.

I saw that play. It was the correct call. The touch was not responsible for him hitting the ground, and he was never touched when on the ground.

I actually cheer all big plays when they happen unless I see a flag. I'm not convinced the officials are against the Cards, although I am convinced that fans of the Cards (like every other team) have been conditioned to believe that they are.

Well you need to get convinced because the officials have been against the Cards for a long time.

The calls on Wilson were the worst ever. I must have seen 50 hits the same or worse than AW's last season without a single penalty being called.

If the zebras had only called the one against Baltimore you could chalk it up to human error. But when the same call was made again in another game it became apparent that the Cards were subject to a different set of rules.

Another call that is seldom if ever made is the holding call when an offensive lineman knocks down a defender and falls on top of him. We got that all the time with LDavis.

I've got 40 years worth of 'em so I'd better stop now or I'll be up all night.

I don't believe that argument for a second. It's human judgment, they do the best they can. When I first saw the play, I thought it was an illegal hit as well. It was only later in slower replay that I could see the hit was clean. If you leave little to distinguish it, the referee is left in a tough position. He's got to make the call as it happens at game speed. That's tough to do.

I remain convinced that the officials are not any more biased against the Cards than they are against any other team.
