The best part of this story for me is the blip about one of the benefits being expenses for the dad to cover a 2 day trip to Southern California that included lodging and workout expenses. You have to be obsessed with Tim Floyd to grasp what it means.
Boatright is the kid that made national headlines years ago by verbally committing to Floyd and USC as an 8th grader while at a camp on USC's campus. Boatright and HIS DAD, attended the TWO DAY CAMP. After the camp was over Boatright said he and his dad met with Floyd in FLoyd's office, and verbally committed. At the time Pat Forde of ESPN wrote a story where he pointed out it's an NCAA violation for an 8th grader to meet on campus with a coach.
Luckily Boatrights dad heard that and said his son was "mistaken" and that the meeting actually took place in their hotel room across the street from USC's campus, Ryan was just confused when he said it was in Floyd's office. yep my son is old enough to verbally commit to a college before he knows what HS he'll attend, but he's too young to remember where he was when it happened.
So now we know that the 2 day visit to California that was paid for with extra benefits was... to visit USC's camp. Just further proof that Floyd and USC got off VERY easy with their probation.
