Bob Melvin is back.
When I saw the title of this thread, I honestly thought you were writing about Kirk Gibson's managerial style.

I guess Melvin saw something he identified with, when he pushed for Gibson to join the D'backs as his bench coach. A team full of bench players.

Does that mean that Melvin is next in line to be our next manager again?

I have no qualms about Melvin being part of the organization, (other than I don't want to see him in a uniform, or have anything to do with the players). Gibson has done a great job so far. He has challenged these kids to make the hard plays on defense, and has backed them by encouraging them to continue to make the hard throws and the tough catches. He has them believing in themselves and each other, AND he has them playing for each other, (with the exception of Upton and Young), who remain outside looking in.

I love what he did for Hudson after he went 5 runs down. He gave him the confidence he needed to hang in there and squeak out a hard-earned win, instead of a dibilitating loss. He has them all in this together, and together they are far better than they are alone as individual players. He is even getting Hernandez to grow some backbone in relief appearances by carefully working him into late relief and closing chances.

I love Gibby's mentality of play hard all the time, and play for each other, or stay home.
