I have had it with him. It's the same excuse after every loss. Bring up Chip Hale, he'll have these players playing. At least Chip will put some energy in the dugout.

Because that worked real well with Brenly and Pedrique.

Chip Hale is a different breed than either one of those guys. Melvin is a Brenley clone in my opinion.

When a team plays as lackadaisically as the Diamondbacks, they generally fire the Manager. (They can't fire the entire roster.)

And BoMel is definitely part of the problem, with his evident lack of leadership ability.

That being said, of all the episodes which have affected the D'backs this season, I believe that none dragged the team down more than Ken Kendricks' blunder of leaking to Montini that Luis Gonzalez might have used steroids during his 57 homerun season.

Declining career or not, Gonzo is the most popular player in the short history of the team. The players, and probably Manager and coaches, saw one of their own treated with disrepect.

That's going to haunt the Diamondbacks until Kendricks sells his interest and moves on.

But we will need a more talented Manager as well.

What do you expect when you hire sloppy seconds?

And can someone move my anti-Melvin rant from that other thread to here.

did you see where he got thrown out of todays game. That's the most emotion he has showed this year. Maybe if he sits a vouple of the starters, Gonzo, Clark, Tracy for a week maybe they will wake up.

That was a lame move but he said that after the team had lost about 10 in a row. The slide coincided with the Grimsley revelation. Gonzo's lackluster play has been going on all season.

At the current rate of decline this team will lose 100.
