The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Tuesday that Phoenix-based We Fix Ugly Pools would renovate the landmark pool in right-center field so fans who use it would have a better view of the game.

The pool company is covering the cost, which is valued at more than $150,000, in exchange for advertising with the team.

Diamondbacks President Rich Dozersaid the renovation could attract more customers, but the pool has always been wildly popular since the ballpark opened in 1998.

"The pool has always been full. We even rent it to people from Chicago," Dozer said.

The pool will be demolished and rebuilt about 4 feet higher, and it will include seats in the pool. It also will have 48 water jets that can be set off when a Diamondback player hits a home run. The area also will include a new private bar, plasma televisions and patio seating.

Last year, the pool was rented for more than 90 percent of the home games, according to the team, and the cost was $5,750 a game, which included 35 tickets and 20 bleacher seats behind the pool.

"We wanted to provide a better entertainment experience for those already renting it out," said Michael Malo, the team's director of marketing. The renovation is set to be complete by opening day, April 4.
