Body of Lies

Release Date: October 10, 2008
Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures
Director: Ridley Scott
Screenwriter: William Monahan, Steve Zaillian
Genre: Drama
MPAA Rating: R (for strong violence including some torture, and for language throughout)
Website: Body of Lies

Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Carice Van Houten, Vince Colosimo

Plot Summary: Based on Washington Post columnist David Ignatius' 2007 novel about a CIA operative, Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio), who uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected to be operating out of Jordan. When Ferris devises a plan to infiltrate his network, he must first win the backing of cunning CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) and the collegial, but perhaps suspect, head of Jordanian intelligence. Although ostensibly his allies, Ferris questions how far he can really trust these men without putting his entire operation - and his life - on the line.

Solid movie. Nothing spectacular about it, but it was well-acted and well-made. The realism was pretty good as well. And Leonardo DiCaprio can act, I tell you.

Is there anyone that claims he cant? Only need to see The Departed and Blood Diamond to know that. As well as several other movies.

chap, do you find it as odd as I do that a movie starring Leo, Crowe, written by an Academy Award Winning screenwriter and directed by Ridley Scott has been just seemingly dumped in the middle of October with absolutely no fanfare and very little press?

I hadn't even heard of this movie until a couple weeks ago.

Ive been seeing ads for it for more than a few weeks easy. There are billboards advertising it all over the place and the TV ads have been pretty strong too. But your right the month is definitely kind of wierd.

Wow. I first heard about it back in March obviously since I created this thread on March 21st, 2008. You are right though - not a ton of marketing and the month is odd...

Yeah, I was thinking of that too. But there really was nothing very new in the movie. My guess is that Warner Bros. thought that too. Again, it was solid, but not award-worthy. IMO of course.

I saw the thread title & thought it was Body of Evidence...lol. First unread post went to azsportsfan31 saying that it was a good movie & I knew I had to have my movies mixed up somehow.
