So ESPN comes to Boise this week and says: "We will put your game at San Jose State on ESPN2 this Saturday." Of course we agree, and they move the time to the evening, and it's on all the schedules and websites. Since we've been on ESPN a lot this year, there was something they wanted us to agree on that involved another game.

ESPN then says that we must move our previously scheduled ESPN season finale (Saturday Nov, 25) against Nevada to Friday or maybe even Thursday (Thanksgiving week). We said no to ESPN since many of the fans (sometimes up to 8,000)that travel to the Nevada game had already made travel plans and ESPN moving the game up would mess everything up.

Becuase we said no about the Nevada game, they pulled the plug on the game this weekend, and now the Nevada game is up in the air.

We are a small program and need all the exposure we can get, but we've already played on a Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday this year to accomidate ESPN. Now becuase we refused to move a game becuase of the fans, ESPN threatens us becuase we won't do what they want.

We owe a lot of thanks to ESPN for putting us on TV so much. But in this case it would give us a short week to prepare for our last game with a lot riding on it, and it would mess up travel plans for all the fans going to the game.

Props to our AD for thinking of the fans. I do wish I could see the games though:)

Yep this is in the paper locally for me because SJS was going to be on ESPN and now won't.

Too bad, SJS has 2 kids that the country deserves to see, one is RB Yonus Davis who is listed at 5'7" 180 but is probably only 5'5". Last I checked he was top 10 in the country in yards per carry and SJS has a terrible OL, this kid makes cuts that defy physics.

The other kid is CB Dwight Lowery who I've mentioned on teh Cards board he might come out this year the kid is smashing INT records, just amazing hands and ball skills, you just don't see too many CB's who play the ball in the air the way he does. people will doubt the level of competition, and he won't run a 4.3 40, but I bet he's a starting CB in the NFL at some point in his career.

It is ridiculous how much power ESPN now has but any Pac 10 hoops fan can tell you that how bad it is for the conference to NOT have an ESPN deal.

That's just a bunch of bs man. I'm glad your AD had the ballz to say no dice to ESPN. Your football program will be better for it. Go Broncos!

Welcome to the nasty world of ESPN. I have grown to hate nearly everything about them.

Yeah, I seem to be getting that vibe from a lot of people when talking about this story. I'm glad we stood up to them. They have helped get Boise ther exposure we need being from a small conference. Thanks to them, we now have recruts from several East coast areas becuase of ESPN.

Espn keeps wanting us on TV becuase we get decent ratings, and have been one of the most winning programs in the last 5 years.

Since 1999 we are 82-16.

It looks like they have some kind of thing in their contract to be able to move a end of the season game if one of the Wac teams is undefeated. I think becuase we said no our seaosn finale will stay the same.

Another interesting twist on this game. SJ Mercury News is reporting that in many ways it's better for SJS to LOSE the game in terms of bowl bids. Under the current format there are 4 teams in the WAC that could be bowl eligible, and only 3 bowls likely to take them. If SJS beats Boise State, it knocks them out of any chance at a BCS bowl, and SJS becomes the odd team out of the 4 because they have the smallest fan base. IF Boise State wins, and wins out, they likely get a BCS bowl leaving 3 WAC teams and 3 bowl bids.

Pretty bizarre but the way they spell it out it does seem to indicate SJS would be better off losing although obviously they're going to try to win.

Not to mention the money SJSU would get if Boise made a BCS bowl.

Every team brings there best. Great gameplan by SJSU and we found a way to pull it out.

Both Ohio State and Michigan won close games last week. They found a way to win, and they stayed on top. Florida won by two.

I'm sure Auburn and Cal if they would have taken a close win today.

I'm not saying Boise isn't a good team, they are. But let's not kid ourselves, they aren't BCS quality.

While I don't think Boise is on par with teams like OSU and Michigan, there's only 1 way to find out for sure.
