He may have said it but its complete bunk.

No way in hell he plays through 2010 and is unwilling to negotiate. He would be leaving to much money on the table. in 2010 he will be hitting 30 YOA.

This just wreaks of frustration and I would put money at some point he will say as such and all will be good.

I sure hope so.

I also agree that there is no way he waits and just plays out his 3 more years. That just wont happen like you said.

Either he finally demands a trade, or he does recants because of frustration and does renegotiate. No way does he with until he is ont the wrong side of 30 to try and get his money, especially the way he plays and gets dinged up.

You've 3 years left, play it out and be a man and stop bitching and complaining. Damn athletes. They never worked once in their life and they act thats life is over.

Anyone hoping that Q gets a boo session at training camp will likely be waiting for a long time. Most people up there are regulars. Q as gracious and giving an athlete you will ever meet in person. Especially to the kids. Their parents see that.

If anything he will be cheered and cheered loudly IMO.

This is why it is so important for this team to draft well. You would have thought we were coming off a Super Bowl season with the list of ingrates:

Boldin
Dockett
Dansby
Wilson

Anyone else? Can we add Warner?

Of course there wasn't enough guaranteed money in the original deal offered last year, they were trying to renegotiate with 3 years left when they gave him 13 million just 2 years ago. Quan must have been hanging out with Dockett too much this offseason. It is banter and posturing. By next week we will hear more that is complete opposite. This slop tends to always get worse just before the deal gets done. Trust me, Drew wants to negotiate, Graves wants to negotiate. Quan's only defense is to try to use public opinion and the Cardinal's inept history to pressure the team. That is, as others said, the only thing he has to leverage with.

Thought I read yesterday that Matt Leinart had been made offense team captain already.

None of this is really a surprise. Did any of Rosenhaus' unhappy players get new contracts? Can't think of any off hand.

Its really much ado about nothing. I dont like it. But it is what it is. NO BIG DEAL!

I think it is a big deal. Cards are trying to change there image and all Boldin just did was give reason for all NFL fans, the media, and soon to be free agents reason to say, "Same Old Cardinals". I like the team more then Boldin and Boldin just did hurt the Cardinals with what will be a ton of bad publicity.

I dont see how any of this is Graves problem. Boldin says he wont sign a new deal with the cards.....who cares? He still has three years left on his deal. I think we should be giving Graves(for once in his life) a pat on the back for working such a deal. Im sick of everyone bashing the front office(as we speak im listening to gumbo on the radio saying the Cards are blowing this.).

How are the Cards not doing the right thing here? Why should we give a guy a new deal after a season he looked like a run down Pinto? I Think we should go to Boldin and tell him to have a great year because it will be his last in Arizona. Play your butt off, get to the pro bowl, and we will trade you next offseason, but for now, SHUT UP AND PLAY BALL!!!!!!!!!!!

Boldin done talking with Cards

by Kent Somers - Jul. 24, 2008 03:29 PM
The Arizona Republic
FLAGSTAFF – An afternoon storm, this one man-made, blew through the Northern Arizona campus Thursday just minutes after the team finished its conditioning test.

Receiver Anquan Boldin didn’t hide his unhappiness over his contract, telling reporters team officials deceived him by not following through on a promise to give him a new contract by the start of the season. Boldin said he has instructed his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, to break off negotiations with the team.

“At this point, I’m not even interested in a contract,” said Boldin. “For me, it’s been going on two years, and especially after last year, I was promised a deal would get done before the season. But the season’s here and obviously that hasn’t happened.

“I don’t want a deal. People may think I’m being funny or saying that just to say it. But, for me, I’m just tired of it. Washed my hands of the whole situation. My agent has direct orders not to negotiate. So that’s how I feel about it.”

Rosenhaus, however, met with General Manager Rod Graves in Phoenix Wednesday evening and travelled to Flagstaff and met with coach Ken Whisenhunt on Thursday. Rosenhaus spoke to a reporter a few hours before Boldin and never indicated that talks had broken off.

In fact, he said there was hope because the two sides were still talking.

Whisenhunt reacted calmly to Boldin’s comments, saying several times that the organization plays a high value on Boldin, who has made two Pro Bowls in five season.

“I understand his frustration and hopefully we’ll be able to go forward and get something done,” he said.

The dispute won’t affect Boldin’s play, or the team’s chemistry, the coach said. “When you talk about professionals, Anquan to me is one of the ultimate professionals,” Whisenhunt said. “He’s a guy who is going to show up and give you everything he’s got, and I don’t anticipate that changing.”

Boldin has three years left on a contract extension he signed before the 2005 season. That deal paid him an average of $4 million, far below what elite receivers are making now.

The Cardinals have expressed interest in re-signing him and say they made Rosenhaus an offer last December but that he never responded. So team officials said they moved on and re-signed receiver Larry Fitzgerald to a four-year, $40 million deal this spring. Boldin, however, doesn’t think the team has ever been serious about delivering on a promise. “It’s not semantics,” he said. “It’s, ‘Anquan, we’re going to get you done before the start of next season.’ That’s exactly out of their mouths.”

When asked how he would respond to possible criticism from fans, Boldin said he would tell them he wants a new contract “because I’ve earned it. I think my numbers speak for themselves, and they (the Cardinals) even came out publicly and said that I outplayed my contract. I mean, I don’t have to make a case to anybody about why I’m deserving of a new contract. That’s self-explanatory.”

It has nothing to do with Fitzgerald’s deal, either, he said. “Larry earned everything that he got. Honestly, he played his butt off. He deserved it.”

The contract dispute won’t affect his play, Boldin vowed, saying “the way that I play this game won’t change.”

The damage with the team, however, cannot be repaired, said Boldin.

“I’m really disappointed it came to this point. For the last five, going on six years, I gave everything I had to this organization. In that sense, I’m disappointed.”

Dude, you've been injured for half your career.

I'd rather re-sign him.

Q could be worn out by the time his contract is up.

He's under contract I like Boldin but he needs to shut his trap and play ball. Does he not realize this hurts him perception wise? He doesn't have much of a choice play ball or sit for as long as the Cards want. You had your chance and you chose to wait and now you will wait. God it makes me kinda sick because this guy has been so good for us and now he is turning into freakin TO. I hope we have a different captain than this guy because this is not showing any leadership, don't cry over your contract especially when they tried to redo it but you said no you wanted to wait and do it later, even with them telling you they may not be able to do it later.

Wow! Here are the facts as I see them. Anyone who thinks my facts are wrong (I'm going by memory) please tell me, I can take it.

1. Boldin is a beautiful football player. In a league of prima donna WRs, he plays football. Watching him hit a CB or Safety after the catch is poetry in motion.

2. Due due his impressive style of play he is likely to encounter injury. You can't have one without the other.

3. The Cardinals rewrote his rookie contract to compensate him for his value. He stated publicly then that he was happy with the team and their treatment of him.

4. The Cardinals told him they would improve his contract again to compensate for his leadership and productivity. They offerred him more than he is making now, but he didn't sign, presumably to see what Fitz got.

5. Including the signing bonus, Boldin is making 4 or more million dollars a year on his current contract. This means he "owes" the Cardinals 12 million dollars of work over the next 3 years.

6. An employee of the Cardinals, who owes the team $12 million in productivity, is calling the ownership liars because he didn't get as much as he thinks he is worth.

7. Boldin says he "feels" like he was lied to, he doesn't say he WAS lied to.

8. NFL Championships are not won by the WR postion. They are won in the trenches, at QB, and on Defense. (not necessarilly in that order)

Again, if my "facts" are wrong, please tell me.

I would rather have season tickets to a consistant playoff team than the team with the most exciting WR. Good luck to you Q, I loved watching you play and appreciated you giving me something to cheer for back when we were losers. I sincerely wish you the best and hope you don't get hurt.

til I die! (or get a new contract)

This is not good. Regardless of the fact that the Cards hold the...well...the cards in this, having Anquan pissing and moaning like this is not good. When a guy like Anquan starts griping about this stuff, I think it can possibly cause some divisions within a lockerroom (and I usually don't believe that in general when it comes to the business side). The problem here is the popularity of Q in the lockerroom (apparently0 can cause other contract malcontents to circle the wagons.

This isn't really Rods fault but at the same time, did Rod really not expect dissatisfaction from Q once Fitz was signed?

If I am Rod, I start to quietly inquire of a possible trade value for Q and if it appears to him that the ties are irrevocably cut, then be ready to make a move and get value.

The only way you can blame Rod on this is in a roundabout way Fitz hitting the escalators forced all this. Rod thought Fitz would never hit them, he did, and then Rod had to redo the deal. That took too long delaying our FA period and pushing out other players deals.

That ultimately IMHO led to boldin being mad.

But honestly they warned Anquan if you wait you might have to wait longer than you want, he chose to wait, he needs to face the facts now and wait his turn.
