anquan boldin said:
“I don’t wake up and read the sports page and say, ‘What are the Cardinals doing?’ ” he added. “If that was the case, I’d never get any sleep.”

It's a shame IMO that he cares as much as he does, guys like this always get screwed in the end, when you are worthless to the team, snip snip. I really hope he gets his someday, but at 27 time is running out.

I actually love his attitude. And I think the Cards will step up next off season. I really doubt Boldin (or Rosenhaus) will demand Fitz type numbers. Get him in the 6 or 7 neighborhood and I think he'll sign it.

Yea because he would turn down an extra 10 million for the Bidwills and could careless about his family right? get back to reality dude, if any team offers you 3-4 million more you are gone for the sake of your family and other people who can depend on you.

And if you actually raed the article that's exactly what he's saying. Read between the lines. It's a bussiness and Q understand that. He will get whatever is fair and he isn't worrying about it but it will happen.

Wonder how he feels now that his best friend Pace was allowed to leave? Wonder how much impact, if any, it will have on his decision to re sign? I doubt much, but he and Pace were tight.

Yeah, it will have no impact. Only stupid players like Antonio McDyess fall for crap like that. Q fully understands the buisness side of it.

Also Q is underpaid in NFL terms but in the real world he still is a baller, these guys are so mobile that if Q and Pace wanted to hook up for a boys night out, it would happen that day if need be.

Teams can offer him 3 to 4 million all they want, he is under contract for the next 3 years. Not sure what "reality" you are in that a team can make an offer to a player under contract, but it must be nice there. I think the Cards should offer Willis 3 mil more than your Niners are paying him so he will play for us.

I did read the article, and that essentially what I said. I just feel he will get it from the Cards next off season or two. BTW, 6 to 7 mil is roughly 3 to 4 more than he is making now.

I think the Cards will reward him with a nice signing bonus next year and extend the contract a couple more years, at least that's what I hope happens. It's tough to see that happen considering they don't have to for a couple more years. I hope they'll be proactive on this one and extend the contract early. No need to do it this year, but next year yes.

You do realize that players can sit out their contract if they're not happy right? no one has to obey the contract if they don't want to. Same with owners, they can cut any player that they don't want to pay anymore.

No player in their right mind does that. They dont miss game checks. To much money in salary and fines to do that. Nice thought though.

LMAO. Yeah that happens all the time. Do you really think Boldin is going to sit out for 3 years, hell even 2 years. The Cards have 3 years to renegotiate his contract, but I really don't think they want to wait that long. They have repeatedly said he is the face of the franchise going forward, he's a team captain, and plays as hard as any player in the NFL.

Just because the Niners signed Johnson doesn't mean they are getting Boldin next year when he "decides" he doesn't like his contract.

Being a multi-millionaire, with millions of followers who cheerish the legacy you left on the field, all by the age of 35, must be tough.

Happened with Boldin before. He sat out mini-camp, said screw this, and then came in for training camp and told Drew Rosenhaus to get the deal done.

And the deal got done. Boldin is not holding out, leaving, etc., etc.

He is the icon of the team and he is not going anywhere.

true, like I said in another thread in the real world Q makes 4 million a year, that's sick money. But hypothetically, let's say Q blew out both knees, the cardinals would certainly not take care of him, regardless of what he has done for the cardinals.

I would bet next offseason he will get an extension that will make him a Cardinal for 6-7 more years and will be compensated similarly to what Fitz was (per year)....

The reality for Boldin / Rosenhaus is that they are in the position that the Cards were in with Fitz--

the leverage is disproportionately on the other side of the table. Boldin has a contract for three more years. This isnt a situation where he has only one more year -- where he can play the "hold out of all of camp, play the minimum number of games" trick.

Rosenhaus can ask for the Cardinals to give Q a "Fitz" deal -- but the dynamics are different. The Cardinals will ask Q to (in effect) "compensate" them for tearing up the last three years of a cap friendly deal. The compensation to the Cardinals will be that the deal will be "below market". Still more than Q would have gotten, but less than he might theoretically get on the open market.
