Does anyone watch this show?

I started watching Season 1 on Netflix (it's set to expire April 1, btw) due to a friend's recommendation.

I'm kinda not digging it. I don't like David B. for the most part and I don't think the Deschanel (sp?) sister is a great actress. I am giving it through Season 1 before I pass total judgment though.

My wife and I like the show but if those are the reasons it doesn't work for you, I can't see you changing your opinion. We like the show primarily because we like DB and while Emily Deshcanel might grow on you a bit, her acting style doesn't change. I'd let it expire and search for something else if I were you.

It's kind of like CSI where the science is just legit enough to pass muster, but the writting is pretty good on Bones.

The characters start to come into their own near the end of the first season, IMHO.

Interesting. It's definitely David Boreanaz's best work and Emily is a much, much, much better actress than her sister Zooey.

The cases are somewhat ridiculous, but it really picks up steam when it delves into the characters more--and that's it's strength. Well, that and the chemistry between the two leads is probably the best on television right now.

Season 1 is solid. Seasons 2-5 do a nice job. I haven't felt the same way about 6.
It's a lot of fun if you're into the lighthearted crime drama.

Love David B. Tried repeatedly to give this show a shot. Couldn't do it. NOT his best work, IMO (sorry, Chap). Never could get past how awful Emily Deschanel is.

But that's just me, and I'm clearly in the minority with my opinion--the show's pretty darn successful.

I am in that minority right there with you. I don't even like to see her on the commericials. Yuck.

FAIL! ;)

Curious what you think David Boreanaz's best work is. Must be Angel, since everything else he's done in movies is complete crap. I loved Angel the show, better than Bones in fact, but Bones is easily his best acting work, no matter how much you hate Emily and the show.

I never said Emily was a great actress, but she's a LOT better than her sister.

I liked him better in Buffy as Angel, than in Angel as Angel, lol.

I thought his acting was...ok (in Bones). Granted, I've only seen maybe 8 episodes, but I hated them all because of Ms. Emily. (well, not ALL because of her; the scripts sucked, too). Bleh. And I really, really, WANTED to love it.

Perhaps your expectations were a bit too high to begin with? :D

We started watching the show after we finished with Veronica Mars on NetFlix...man I miss that show.

Any whoo.

I agree with Chap. I believe this is Boreanaz's best work, for what it's worth, and Deschanel is believable in her role.

Bottom line, the show is entertaining to me at least.

It's not like Emily is supposed to have a huge emotional arc. Brennan is supposed to be socially inadequate and not understand anything about human emotion. I think she nails it, personally.

Emily>Zoey IMO

And I like Bones. What stops me in my tracks though are the outrageous toys and equipment they have.

I am hooked though to see what happens with the love story arc.

I agree - she's supposed to be a 'cold-fish' type, lol. I do like Agent Booth!

I've caught a few episodes on re-run that intrigued me enough to watch it on Netflix (seasons 5-10) and Hulu has sesons 11-12.

Did some binge watching over the weekend, but I can't find seasons 1-4 anywhere. Those were supposedly the best episodes.
