Mar. 28—MORGANTOWN — Wheeling Park senior Alexis Bordas has proved how special she is over the years.
The first-ever three-time Gatorade Player of the Year capped her storied career this season by becoming the all-time leading scorer in Wheeling Park history (boys or girls) with 2, 606 points. She set an Ohio Valley record for career-three-pointers made (367), with 94 coming this season alone.
Bordas set a single-game school record with 58 points against Buckhannon-Upshur on January 18 behind 13 made threes (also a school record).
The Duquesne signee averaged 34 points, six rebounds, and four steals per game this season, accounting for nearly 61 % of her team's scoring during the regular season with 748 of the Patriots' 1, 229 points, all while leading her team to the Region I finals.
Bordas' efforts have earned her the title of captain of the 50th annual West Virginia Sports Writers Association Class AAAA all-state first-team.
"People don't see the amount of work she puts into this, and she is so deserving of the recognition she has received over the last four years, " Wheeling Park head coach Ryan Young said. "I am so fortunate to have coached a player like Lex. She is a model student-athlete who sets the bar high, not only for herself but for her team, as well. She has helped elevate our program, and I can't wait to watch her succeed at the next level and beyond."
2025 State Champions Allie Daniels and Sophi Hutchison of Spring Valley were each honored with first-team selections after an outstanding title run.
Daniels, a senior, averaged a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds this season, including the 1, 000th board of her career.
Hutchison was named AAAA tournament MVP for her play in Charleston. The junior tallied 16 points, eight assists, and six steals a night for the Timberwolves.
Morgantown High duo Kayli Kellogg and Sadaya Jones were given all-state honors for the second consecutive season.
Kellogg was named to the first team for the second year in a row after averaging 21.7 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals a night for the Mohigans in her sophomore season.
"Kayli is one of the hardest workers I've coached, " said MHS head coach John Fowkes. "If she's not at practice, she's in the gym working on her game or making 500 three-pointers. She did a little bit of everything for us this year. She's a great student as well. She's a complete player who will continue to get better."
Jones, a UMBC signee, was named to the second team in 2024 but returned in her final season to help lead MHS to the championship game, earning first-team honors. This season, Jones scored 16.1 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished four assists, and earned two steals per game for the Mohigans.
"Sadaya was our senior leader, " Fowkes said. "She is an excellent rebounder for the position she plays and is a division one recruit headed to play at UMBC. She was MVP of the OVAC championship game and is also a wonderful student and person."
Another pair of MSAC players joined Daniels and Hutchinson, as Jaycee Elzy of St. Albans and Jeriyah Pryor of George Washington earned first-team recognition.
Elzy scored 20 points a night, grabbing 6.8 rebounds and shooting 41 % from the field.
Pryor, only a sophomore, led the Patriots to the AAAA semifinals with 28 points and 15 rebounds in an upset of No. 3 Parkersburg in the opening round.
"Jeriyah has always had her athleticism on the court, " George Washington head coach Jamie LaMaster said. "Where she grew most this season was mentally. She's just a driving force for our team, and she greatly understands what we're doing in her second year. She scores and plays defense well and probably has the quickest first step of any kid I've coached in 31 years."
John Marshall junior Rilee Storm was named to the first team after leading the Monarchs to 15 wins this season. In a competitive Region I, she averaged 21 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks per contest.
"Rilee separates herself with her work ethic, " John Marshall coach Brock Melko said. "She lives in the gym, and her success has been earned through countless hours of work and preparation. She has an infectious love for the game, and I'm happy to see her be rewarded with this honor. This year, she elevated all parts of her game."
After leading their teams to Charleston, a pair of EPAC seniors round out the Class AAAA first team with Spring Mills' Kilah Dandridge and Washington's Mary Rivera.
Dandridge led the Cardinals with 14 points per contest, while Rivera scored 15.3 for the 18-win Patriots.
Spring Valley's Brooklyn Ellis, University's Hannah Stemple and Bri Fox, Woodrow Wilson's Abby Dillon, St. Albans' Samaya Rigan, George Washington's Rayana Breckenridge, Parkersburg's Frances Guice and Kennedy Porter, Buckhannon Upshur's Alyssa Abel, and Hurricane's Alex Anderson, were named to the second team.
Wooden plaques in the shape of West Virginia that include the player's name, school, licensed WVSWA logo, and year of the honoree are available to all-state first-team, second-team, and honorable-mention selections and can be purchased from the Bear Wood Co. through WVSWA.org or Bearwoodcompany.com.
