Jonathan Ames, a young Brooklyn writer, is feeling lost. He's just gone through a painful break-up, thanks in part to his drinking, can't write his second novel, and carouses too much with his magazine editor. Rather than face reality, Jonathan turns instead to his fantasies — moonlighting as a private detective — because he wants to be a hero and a man of action.

The offbeat comedy series 'Bored to Death,' created by Jonathan Ames (author of several books, including the acclaimed graphic novel 'The Alcoholic'), follows the misadventures of a fictional Jonathan Ames as he pursues his quixotic dream of emulating his heroes from classic private detective novels.

'Bored to Death' stars Jason Schwartzman ('The Darjeeling Limited') as Jonathan Ames; Ted Danson ('Damages,' HBO's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm') as George Christopher, a high-profile magazine editor and Jonathan's boss; and Zach Galifianakis ('The Hangover') as comic book illustrator Ray Hueston, Jonathan's confidant. BORED TO DEATH was created by Jonathan Ames; executive producers, Jonathan Ames, Sarah Condon, Stephanie Davis, Dave Becky and Troy Miller; co-executive producer, Tracey Baird; producers, Mark Baker and Anna Dokoza.

charaters are developing nicely. I DO NOT like Jason Schwartzman normally, but the rest of the characters are quirky enough to make his (my belief) underdeveloped acting chops seems almost purposeful, so he's not annoying. Danson is awesome and Ilove his last couple TV role choices (this and Damages). Plus, I have a fondness for watching shows and movies filmed in my neck of the woods.

I've been watching. Decent, but it seems to be missing something. I probably would have given up by now if I wasn't so loyal to HBO.

Watched season 1 and the season 2 premier this weekend. I am really digging this show.

I don't know how far in the season Bada was when he made that post but I can see that. To me something was amiss until the 3 characters all went together on the case where the lady and her brother were blackmailing the client. Now with all 3 involved in the shenanigans there's a completeness for me in what's going on.

Yeah, I thought the last few episodes were hilarious.

big big BIG thumbs up for me. Agreed with everyone else, it was a solid little show that took a little while to find it's legs, but now that it has, it's up and running perfectly.

There are some funny, talented people in this cast. Actually a great cast.

Zach Galafianakis is one of the fastest rising funny guys around. Catch his Internet videos, Between 2 Ferns. http://www.funnyordie.com/between_two_ferns

Ted Danson is reborn in this one.

Cast is amazing, but if you think Danson was reborn here, you should have seen him in the first three seasons of Damages as Arthur Frobisher. That was the role that put him back on the map in a HUGE way back in 2007 and thank god for that. He's one of the best TV actors alive, able to play ANY kind of role.

Not familiar with Damages. Might have to check it out.

i'm pretty sure you'll like it. Glen Close and Ted Danson square off in a knock-out, drag 'em down knife fight of a lawsuit over an entire season. The first season was pure brilliance, second season wasn't nearly as good, but much better than anything else on TV and the third season was almost as good as the first. And you won't believe how much of an SOB Danson plays in this who you'll alternatively loathe and like throughout.

This is one of my favorite HBO shows. Very clever and witty. Lots of obscure references you can miss if you aren't paying attention but very funny.

I finally watched this last episode and for me it was the best of the series thus far. The whole stoned/mercenary stuff with Danson was unbelievably funny. Of course Norton and the other guy were great bad guys too.

and Jonathan's parents were spot-on also. This is a show that was solid it's first season and seemed like it had a lot of potential last season and is now really finding it's legs. Pretty awesome hour block of comedy on HBO between this and Eastbound.

Latest episode was hilarious! Kevin Bacon was awesome I love actors that will make fun of themselves and Kristin Wigg could make me laugh if she was standing under a Berka and not saying a word...

Jonathan yelling "NOBODY CALL THE COPS" as they left the diner had me laughing all night.

Season 2 finale was last night. Sad to see the end of the season but did anyone else think season 2 was blah? There were some good moments but it wasn't nearly as entertaining as season 1 IMO but I still enjoy the show. Hopefully HBO brings it back for a 3rd season and they can do some cool things.

Finished season 2. I thought it was pretty good. Especially episode 2, when Jonathan was hiding in the closet.

Recently watched season 3. Nothing really stood out as hilarious, but each 30 minute show was entertaining.

Apparently they canceled the show, but as BIM mentioned a movie could be in the works.
