Um, not to sound like a hater. But who the hell cares? A-Rod aint that much of a improvement over Nomar. Plus that site looks a lil amateurish.

Oh ya, who's gonna play LF now that Manny is gone. That is a stupid deal. Especially when they dont wanna pay Nomar next year, but are willing to take on the highest paid player.

Keith Millar will probably play left unless they can make a deal. There was a rumor that says Nomar will go to the Dodgers for Perez and prospects and then Perez goes to the White Sox for Ordonez.

These two teams (BoSox & Yankers) are just trying to out do each other. It's like two rich kids trying to out do each other with the newest gadget. Chemistry plays alot into a championship year. As the D-Backs, Angels and Marlins proved these last 3 years. Yankers proved that the highest payroll doesn't equal a ring. Although I wouldn't be mad if the BoSox won, that is if the D-Backs don't, I hate the Yankers.

It is getting kinda ridiculous, but I am a BO SOX fan...I guess spending is ok if its not the Yankees. What hypocrites we are.

Look at it another way - new ownership desperately needs to break decades of cynical expectations AND do it fast or lose millions of Bosox fans into their usual bitter dypepsia, PLUS boost NESN (and YES) ratings and dollars,
AND is trying a somewhat unusual approach to team-building WITH lots of money, AND remedy bad or dysfunctional past decisions rapidly, PLUS insanely competitive ownership egos, PLUS a rare opportunity as Steinbrenner moves into full melt-down mode and eats his team alive, PLUS baseball is losing its grip and needs a broadly interesting public focus, MINUS any sense of perspective... ;)

Seems to me it really is a once-in-a-blue-moon chance for the Red Sox to grab the lead, and given the history and economics, they'd be nuts to waste it. It may be very good for baseball, if the rivalry between Boston, Yankees, and perhaps those tricky Orioles is intense this year - they've all jacked the stakes up even higher - it could have a McGuire-Sosa-like impact.
I'm really looking forward to it.

Can't blame you. The media will be all over the AL East this year, and you can bet more and more baseball fans will be hyped over it as well--it's a great story. Really hope the actual race matches the hype!

The Red Sox and Yankees need to worry more about the Blue Jays than the Orioles. Toronto has a very potent offense and they have some good arms. Baltimore has done nothing to improve their pitching, which is not very good.

The Blue Jays are committed to building their team in the image of the Oakland A's--that's why they hired Billy Beane's former assistant as GM... and he's doing his best to implement the same type of system in Toronto... There will come a year when the Blue Jays "surprise" the baseball media pundits ...
