Bournemouth star drops major transfer hint amid Liverpool interest

Report: Liverpool Interest Grows as Huijsen Future Hinted by Bournemouth Teammate

Liverpool Monitoring Rising Star Defender

Liverpool’s defensive rebuild could take another twist after Justin Kluivert made a striking admission about his Bournemouth teammate Dean Huijsen, a 19-year-old centre-back reportedly attracting serious interest from Anfield.

Speaking to Radio Marca, Kluivert didn’t hold back when asked about Huijsen’s future:

“I know that next year he won’t be with us.”

That remark alone is enough to set tongues wagging, especially with Liverpool already credited with an interest in the Spanish international. The Reds are said to have made early contact over a potential summer move, alongside their long-standing admiration for Milos Kerkez, another standout in the Cherries’ backline.

Transfer Timing Could Favour Liverpool

Huijsen, who featured in Spain’s UEFA Nations League quarter-final win over the Netherlands, is clearly a young man in demand. His international progress and composed displays for Bournemouth have alerted top European sides—including Real Madrid, whom the player has publicly named as a dream destination.

Still, as Fabrizio Romano noted, that doesn’t preclude a move to Liverpool, who remain serious contenders. In this instance, the Richard Hughes connection could prove useful, with the Reds’ new sporting director holding strong links to his former club.

“It’s quite interesting to hear Kluivert so explicitly declaring that the 19-year-old won’t be a Bournemouth player next season.”

Slot’s Defensive Options Under Review

As Arne Slot prepares for his first summer in charge, defence will undoubtedly be a key area of focus. With Virgil van Dijk’s future uncertain and squad depth in question, a technically strong, forward-thinking centre-half like Huijsen fits Liverpool’s recruitment model.

Whether it’s immediate or part of a longer-term strategy, Huijsen’s situation now feels like one to watch closely.

Madrid Interest Looms Large

As with other high-profile targets in recent seasons, Liverpool will need to contend with Real Madrid’s lure. Huijsen himself has not been shy about his admiration for Los Blancos. Still, if the Reds act decisively, they could position themselves as a serious option for the youngster’s next step.

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

This is the type of transfer link that gets Liverpool fans talking. Dean Huijsen might only be 19, but he already plays like someone with years of top-level experience. His ball control, positioning and willingness to play out from the back mark him out as exactly the kind of player who fits the modern Anfield blueprint.

The fact that Justin Kluivert has so confidently stated Huijsen won’t be at Bournemouth next season all but confirms that movement is coming. If Richard Hughes and Arne Slot are serious about building a squad capable of sustaining success post-Klopp, this is exactly the type of smart, forward-looking deal they should be doing.

Of course, Madrid’s shadow looms large. But we’ve competed with them before, and we’ve won those battles too. The key now is intent—if Liverpool move fast and make Huijsen feel central to the project, there’s every chance we could pull off a coup.

The foundations are there. Now it’s time to build.
