Boys basketball: BOLD falls to Henning in consolation semifinals

Mar. 21—ST. PAUL — The BOLD boys basketball team saw the 2024-25 season end with a 61-59 loss to Henning in the state Class A consolation semifinals.

The Warriors kept it close the entire way, though Henning took control in the second half of the game at Concordia University's Gangelhoff Center.

Fifth-seeded Henning (28-4) plays seventh-seeded Heritage Christian Academy (25-6) for the consolation championship at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Gangelhoff Center.

In the other consolation semifinal, Heritage Christian Academy beat Goodhue (22-10), 84-82.

BOLD (20-12) was the eighth seed and lost to top-seeded Cherry 89-57 in Thursday's quarterfinals.

Against Henning, Jack Gross had a big game. The 6-foot-5 senior guard had 34 points, nine rebounds, five steals and two blocked shots. He shot 11-for-19 from the field, including 3 of 7 from 3-point range. He was 9-for-12 from the free-throw line.

Tyler Ruschen, a 5-8 junior guard, added 12 points for the Warriors.

Kale Misegades, a 6-3 junior guard, had 22 points, eight rebounds and two assists for the Hornets.

BOLD seniors Gross, Daylen Weber, Hudson Vosika, John Morse, William Penkert and Owen Flann wrap up their careers by getting the Warriors to their first state tournament.

The consolation championship is 8 a.m. Saturday at the Gangelhoff Center.
