The lack of consistency from the Manager had good
short term results with Bob Brenley (World Series championship) and Bob Melvin (Manager of the Year). But they both didn't last too long. It just doesn't work in the
long run to not let players (position players, starters or relievers) settle into their roles.
When is the D'backs front office going to realize that as long as the mentality is the same (even if the faces are different), you are not going to build consistency if the players come to the park not knowing their roles day after day?
